1. She must love the Lord with all of her heart, mind and strength, and she must make it a point to love others as herself. I don't expect her to be perfect, but I do want a woman convicted in this area. She must be committed to spiritual growth and being like Christ.
2. She must love me not only in spite of my faults, but for my faults, understanding that they're a part of what makes me who I am. This doesn't mean I won't work on them, it just means I expect her to help me with them as I grow -without forsaking me.
3. She must be able to be my partner in ministry. I might be a preacher or a bible professor at a Christian college and my wife needs to be able to live up to that, supporting me as my wife -my partner in the kingdom of God.
4. She must be comfortable with the idea of being an example for others to follow, not only because this may be a result of my ministry, but also because it is her own personal faith conviction. She must understand how important it is to help others to grow to spiritual maturity, and she must work to help them in this.
5. She must be capable of being an intellectual partner to me, able to discuss and even debate various things with me, understanding that even when the conversation gets "heated", it promotes communication and unity.
6. Marriage will always be a give and take situation, and she must be capable of both giving and taking as is appropriate to the time.
7. She must understand that work in marriage must be shared.
8. She must look physically attractive to me. I don't care about what others think of her, but she must be beautiful in my eyes. I don't expect her to be perfect in this area at all times, but I'd like her to try to be pleasing to me as I will try for her.
9. She must be willing to both accept and give a lot of affection. This does not mean public display of affection, but she must understand that giving and receiving affection is a need with me, and she must be willing to cater to that.
10. Finally, I want her to love me with all of her heart, strive to please me and know that she is my equal in life, in marriage, and in ministry. If she can respect and love me, then I will go to the ends of the earth for her, and I will happily lay down my life for her.
