Guidelines for Church and Chapel Etiquette

Respect for Our Lord is displayed in the following ways:

1. When the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, genuflect on both knees upon entering, if you are able. If you are not physically able, do your best to show your respect.

2. Be mindful of proper and modest attire. Our "Sunday Best" is respectful. Sloppy clothing is not respectful. In the summer, short shorts or miniskirts; bare spaghetti straps or tank tops are not respectful either.

3. Talking in church or in the chapel is discouraged. Maintain a strict reverence in the presence of Our Lord in His house. If you need to talk to someone, hold your conversation outside. You may be disturbing someone else who is trying to pray.

4. Never eat or drink in church. Chewing gum and candy are not respectful either.

5. No radios, CD or tape players, or cell phones are to be used in church.

6. No spontaneous unscheduled events or sermonizing is allowed. Adoration is a peaceful, private time for each Adorer.

7. Read the bulletin at home, not in church. Use your time in church or chapel for prayer. Don't be a distraction, set a good example for others.
