The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an award scheme set up for young people aged between 14 and 25. It is designed to get young people involved with their community, meet new people, and make new friends. The award is split into three different levels: -
Bronze takes about 9 Months, Silver 12 Months and Gold about 18 Months to 2 years to complete. To achieve each level you have to complete 4 sections (5 for Gold). These being Physical Recreation, Skill, Service and Expedition (plus a Residential project for the Gold level). The Prestatyn Open Award Centre is a centre located in Prestatyn, North Wales, where young, local people can participate in the award scheme. It is based at Prestatyn High School, and runs every Monday night from 7:30pm. The centre is open to anybody who wishes to take part and has been open for a number of years. During this time a considerable amount of people have achieved the award on its three different levels.
