know about Philippine politics (name of president and vice-president, name
of mayor...)
affective - the feelings or emotions evoked in a
person by political phenomena
evaluative - based on our cognitive and
affective orientations that forms into a judgment regarding political
happenings
Group Belief Systems
Mass Public - The people that are part of this
group have simple knowledge regarding politics. Their main concerns are
themselves (interest-based) and their span of attention is very limited.
They are only interested in short term controversies rather than long term
issues.
Political Elite - These people have significant
knowledge regarding politics. Basically, they are the opposites of
activists.
Political Culture
"configuration of a particular people's
political orientations" (Danziger)
"broad pattern of values and attitudes that
individuals hold toward political objects (personalities, institutions, even
self as a political actor)" (Jackson & Jackson)
Three dimensions:
National identity - extent to which individuals
identify with each other
Trust
Political Efficacy - extent to which individuals
perceive they can influence political decision
