How Do The Graphs Work?

This is as close as I could get to a visual replay of the match (more like one of Oliver Wood's graphs!) Only quaffle play is shown, as snitch is too difficult to show visually. If you've played in a match, the graphs can show how you did, and what the team needs to work on.

Example Match: Ravenclaw v Hufflepuff 2003
If you look at the graph, imagine you are looking down on the pitch from above. The coloured lines down each side represent the goals - in this case, blue for the Ravenclaw goal line (where Sindor Aloyarc was stationed as keeper), and yellow for the Hufflepuff goal line (where Ron Diggory was keeping goal), with a gold strip to symbolise the goal hoops.

In front of each goal line is the area where the beaters battle with the chasers, and the central (mainly blank) area is the "All Chasers" area, or centre of the pitch. The coloured blocks represent which player has got the quaffle - in other words, who won each question. And the arrows mean that a defender has blocked the quaffle and sent it hurtling back towards the opposite goal.

Scoring
If a player breaches the opposing goal line, that means they have scored. You can see that October Jackson, Mercury McKinnon and Persis Areanas scored in the section above, although the beaters and keepers blocked many goals.

Possession
The more arrows you see criss-crossing, rather than going just in one direction, and the more evenly mixed the colours in the "possession" column on the right are, usually means that the game is a particularly exciting and evenly matched battle at that point. For instance, in the example above, we can see some real battles between the excellent beaters on each side.

Continous Possession: The 2003 Appleby Arrows
In the next example, however, one team has taken command of the game and kept continuous possession. This is the 2003 championship-winning Appleby Arrows in action, with a spectacular piece of teamwork between beater Nicole Delacour and chaser Seven Ashitaka, with support from Arianna Diamth and keeper Merlinda Gandore.
