Here is my theory.
In a field of eternal darkness there floats a Holiday Inn, sitting upon a spinning gem of everlasting brightness. Alas, the Holiday Inn is a deception, for in reality it is a large can of Pepsi Twist! Within this Pepsi Twist is a setting similar to that of the great ocean liners of old. Upon the hands of a waiter, walking to serve a rich couple seated about a nicely decorated table, is an ancient food tray, with the dome shaped lid. Beneath this dome is a pineapple. Within this pineapple is the JC and all who dwell there. It is a world of absurdity, which defiantly defies the very laws of physics! For example, people might walk upon the ceiling, or fly about like insects of nonsense! It is fun. Alas, there is darkness as well. For troll creatures attack the populace and bite their faces!!!! Yet, there are the mods, evil yet good, for the power of modship soon corrupts even the bravest of warriors. They sit upon their thrones in a castle of yellow, atop a mountain of green, spying upon all with their tricks of sorcery!!! Each forum as is an island, with odd weather conditions. The JCC is composed of many floating, multi colored cubes, and people hop to and fro, like frogs on their lilipads. Beneath is sand of the color blue, and dangerous sea penguins dwell there.
Well, thats my idea. What thinks thee? I dont expect yours to be as accurate as mine, but this is ok.

a big hallway with doors to enter each thread. of course youd see me, frantically running from door to door to door, back and forth from each LOTR thread, a trail of drool behind me as i clutch my pics of elijah/hot star wars characters.

hehe, just kidding...
I don't know, a hotel with many different rooms and conference rooms.
Of course the all-mighty admins would have their little corner with a babysitter to protect them (hehe)
While we, simple folks would be all together talking together in the different rooms representing the different forums...
My view of the JC Community room is the entrance where everyone meets to take a first drink and say hi to everyone before entering the Star Wars related discussions. Of course, some just stay in the entrance to say hi to everyone.
The threads would be tables with a few chairs around them.

Here's what the JC really looks like:
On a dark and lonely stretch of highway, there sits an old abandoned gas station. Inside this gas station, there is a can of refried beans. Inside this can of musical fruit exists the JC itself. Each forum is a different bean, but it is all congealed in a bean sauce that unites all the JC. The community forum exists on the biggest of these beans. These beans are maintained through the tireless efforts of the Moderators, Administrators, and a bunch of helper bacteria.
One time this guy came into the gas station, and almost took the JC on his trip to Denver, but luckily he took an old potato instead. He's dead now.

i always imagined the JC as um.. the Jedi Coucil room or a big commons-area-room thing with tables for each discussion.
or a combonation of the two.

If you approach Light City by air - and there is no other way of approaching it, no roads, no port facilities - if you don't fly they don't want to see you in Light City - you will see why it has this name. Here the sun shines brightest of all, glittering on the swimming pools, shimmering on the white, palm-lined boulevards, glistening on the healthy bronzed specks moving up and down them, gleaming off the villas, the hazy airpads, the beaches, and so on.

I have always pictured it as a bunch of open-air pits in a circle. Great catwalks are suspended above the high walls that separate the different forums/pits and on these walk the members of the ModSquad, rifles in hand, ready to fire warning shots over the crowd or if need be, take down a troublesome poster. In the center of this big wheel are the Administration Forums, small, vicious dens where the mods get their ammunition and orders from.
But far above is another platform, the Staff. And their guns are bigger than ours.
The descriptions seem to lean towards the dystopian, mayhem and whatnot. I wonder why that is... ?:|

A Bar and Grille:
You see the sign among the hundreds of others in the city of Interweb. You drive into the parking lot and entere the place. Its your common restaurant and has lots of smoke and tables and music playing. You take a seat near the people you decide are right for you and enter into the converstation. Of course no one really knows who their talking to as everyone is a stranger. Eventaully, you discover if the place you have chosen is right for you or not and you move or stay. And so you order "meals" which go by the names of "threads". Every customer is able to create their own recipe and meal. And so you interchange conversation over a thread-meal while the Admins and Mods run the place and make sure that everything was OK. Their are the trouble-makers that are known as trolls and the Mods and Admins take care of them. Every thread is a meal, and certain thread-meals go in certain sections of the restaurant.
Thats my depiction of the JC...

It would be a street. Each house a different forum an in each house the rooms would be a different thread. In RL some houses the families there are grumpy old people playing bridge and others they are teenagers partying. Others are families with kids and parents. Same with the JC i think.
