Subject: Has anybody else noticed a weakening in Hotmails spam defense?

The McNerf has. My Bulk Mail used to be very good at what it's supposed to do. Virtually all spam of was filtered into it, allowing me to delete them when I so wished it. Lately however, I have been noticing alot of spam leaking through into my inbox. Stuff that my Bulk Mail would usually capture.
Has Hotmails defense weakened, or have the spammers grown stronger? Regardless, Hotmail needs to upgrade their weaponory to defend against this unwelcome intrusion into our inbox's. Or has this been only happening to me? Has anybody else noticed this?

up your junk protection to exclusive, and check your junk mail frequently to make sure nothing you want gets filtered there

Personally, I've never found the spam filter terribly effective. The only way to get Hotmail spam-free is to put the filter on exclusive, and to do that you have to be sure that all the people/mailing lists/websites you want to hear from are listed as such. Also, I find that even on minimum strength filter, stuff I wanted was going into the Junk Mail folder, most notably JC notifications. Plus there is the fact that Hotmail is slowly creeping towards pay-only(or if not that, than a free service with no special features and heaps of ads telling you to send them money if you want your features back).

I think you are right, McNerf. Although it never really worked perfectly, now I get at least 15-20 junk emails per day in my hotmail. Plus those jerks that send them are getting more and more clever at disguising them.

Yep my crap account gets approx 100-150 emails a day. I only empty it when i need to check it for a new password or somehting. Latingly I've been getting some stuff on my main account too

I abandoned Hotmail awhile ago, I got truckloads of junk and it just became a big hassle to check my email.
I use MyOwnEmail now. So far so good, it's a really thorough free service.

I get about 4 spams a day, and maybe once a week one will leak into my inbox.
What's even the point of junk mail? Does anyone actually follow the links? Sounds like a pathetic waste of time.

I get hardly any spam in my hotmail account. I do however get tons of emails from colleges who want my money, and that's almost its own breed of spam

Its funny that you bring this up because I was literally just deleting about 10 spam messages from my Hotmail account. I agree that their filter isn't what it used to be.

I seem to get about 25-30 a day sometimes. My junk mail filter catches the rest.
