((OOC: Well since I finished up my character I was thinking it might be time to do at least a small bit of Roleplay. However I noticed that generally a team needs to be assembled. Only problem for Grass Village is there are three genin and not a single jounin. However I know that right now the board is sort of in a transitional phase and because of that the rules are sort of still being set-up and in return play is a bit lax. I thought that maybe I should attempt to kill some time by making a role play. Chances are I should probably assist in the problem of a lack of characters by making more, and honestly I'll try later, but for now let me just try this. Very Happy)

Takeshi entered the mission hall, he removed his sakkat and sort of wiped the water off of his clothes. With the monsoon season almost ending the winds have gotten calmer but the rain had been steadily ongoing for the past 14 days now. Takeshi looked around in the hall and saw a large number of genins with their jounin instructors talking. The hall was in a major buzz and the young medical-nin could barely hear himself think there was so much noise. He stands in line at the main table as teams are getting their missions. Luckily it took little time for it become his turn.

The jounin looked down at Takeshi and gives him an annoyed look as to saying, "Yeah what do you want?" Receiving the odd vibe the jounin was giving him Takeshi pulls a peice of paper out of his vest and gives it to him. The jounin opens the paper note up and see the message, "Report to the Mission Hall." The jounin re-folds the paper and gives it back to him, "So you're Takeshi, go talk to Kisaragi in that briefing room over there."

The jounin then points to a door that had a note taped on it that said, "Recruiting Unattached Genin for Emergency Work, Inquire Inside!"

Takeshi walks over to the door and knocks on it. "Come in!" Taka's voice rings.

Takeshi opened the door and saw Taka standing near a table with a map on it. The jounin ninja looked the same as usual, wearing the Grass Ninja outfit with his forehead protector tied on his arm. Were he not wearing a male uniform who could of possibly of been mistaken for a woman because of his "tomboyish features" as well as his shoulder length pink hair. "Ah! Sakuragi, glad you got my message take a seat."

"Mr. Kisaragi sir, what's going on?"

"Young Sakuragi, people need your help. I've selected you for a mission."

"Sir, I can't go on a mission I'm not a part of an official team they still need to put me with two genins and one jounin."

"Yes, yes, yes, I know how teams are set-up, but this monsoon has tied up most of the teams in relief work, we're to spread out and now a problem has occurred close to the village and most of the ninja teams are already obligated to other missions. So now we have to rely on unattached Genin to form a small group and take care of it."

"Sir, that's not a very good idea, some unattached genin are just fresh out of the academy, they could get themselves hurt or jeopradize others by going on an unsupervised mission!"

"Jeoprady? Danger? I assure you Sakuragi that the mission being given to this contingent is hardly dangerous, in fact I know for a fact that YOU on ocassion have done a couple of missions like this as a civilian. As long as there is a medical-nin to supervise there should be nothing dangerous."

"Medical-nin to supervise? Wait a moment, I'M a medical-nin."

"Yes, you are sort of in charge of this mission."

"Are you crazy? I'm a medic, I don't have leadership skills! I take orders not give them! I barely know all my techniques I can't supervise a mission."

Taka looks at him silently, "Civillian's lives are at stake right now, we tried our best to find a team to help these people, but we can't. This is our last resort, we aren't comfortable with this, but we have no choice. It was approved because I told them that I had the utmost confidence in your abilities besides the fact that you're inexperienced. By turning down this mission you not only hurt the people who need your help, you hurt my credibility as a ninja, and most importantly you hurt YOURSELF and YOUR credibility not only as a Sakuragi Practicioner but as a MAN."

"But couldn't you at least come with us?"

"If I could of gone with you and whoever joins you I would of been able to take my own team of Genin, after this mission brief I have to leave to go to the Rain/Grass Country Border to insure a transfer of goods between the two countries is safe and secure of looters and bandits that are now running amock during this season."

Silence filled the room as the seated Takeshi looks down at his shoes, moments later he looks back into Taka's orange eyes and says, "Fine, I accept this mission, what do I need to do now."

"Just stay seated and wait for any other genin to join this briefing for now. It's not safe to take this mission solo but my superiors said 2-4 genins should be able to handle this mission."

Taka and Sakuragi then begann to start some casual conversation as they awaited other loose genin to volunteer.

((OOC: Ok, Game Master, Moderators, and Admins; if I really shouldn't be doing this please feel free to enter the Roleplay as a Random Jounin and report to Taka that another team has decided to accept the mission to do before they reach their primary objectives and so the original set-up has now been cancelled. If no one has objections to this RP then other Grass Genins come on in, I allow you the use of Taka (since he's... you know not necessarily a authorized NPC anyways. >.>) to introduce yourselves to Sakuragi I would like to see the other two genins join in on this one, but if only one does I understand perfectly. Once introductions have been set and everyone is ready; I'll start the breifing. ^_^))

(OOC: I think White Eyes was planning a Grass Jounin, though I'm not sure what the current situation is. At any rate, I hope you don't mind If I pop in....)

The doors to the mission hall swung open as a short girl dashed through, one hand clamped on top of her bucket hat to keep it from falling off. Not that she should've been worried about that, anyway. Wet clothes tended to stick to a body. And rain, which had been companion to the monsoon plaguing the area for the past two weeks, tended to make things wet, and thus, make them stick a body. It was all connected.

Sabaki pulled her hat off, rolled it up, then wrung it tightly, making a small puddle on the floor. Oops. Hopefully, no one would slip on it... As she flapped her hat a few times to coax the last droplets off, she ventured over to the main table. There weren't many people waiting, so she didn't have to wait long.

The Jounin glanced up with a scowl, making Sabaki sweatdrop as she put her hat back on. Bad day for him, maybe? Quickly, so as to not make him any more upset, she unfolded the small note she'd gotten earlier that morning telling her to report to the mission hall, and showed it to him. The Jounin glanced over it, then thrust it back at her, jabbing a thumb over his shoulder. "Briefing room, Yusa Sabaki. Talk to Kisaragi." And the unhappy man turned to attend to the next person.

She fought her way past a team of Genin with their Jounin sensei, and felt a small pang of jealously as she heard them talking. She'd graduated last year, but still hadn't found a team. By now, Sabaki was beginning to suspect that the higher-ups on the shinobi council thought her useless, and therefore wasn't putting her on a team. Perhaps going down the defensive ninjutsu path had been a mistake. Perhaps Iwane had been right when he'd called her a coward, even though he'd been joking (or at least, she thought he was joking) telling her that a brave ninja would be as offensive as possible. Perhaps she really didn't have the talent to be on a team.

But I graduated! They'll give me a team soon....I hope. She sighed, then lay a hand on the door of the briefing room, pausing before pushing it open.

A Genin and a Jounin were conversing inside. Sabaki's eyes flickered over the boy for a moment, taking in his dismally thin and short frame and wondering if he was some victim of child abuse. Poor thing. She knew what it felt like to starve. But her thoughts only lingered momentarily before they were caught by the....sheer pinkness of the Jounin's hair. And she blinked, realizing that the Jounin was a male.

Thinking that maybe she'd interrupted them, Sabaki pulled her hat further down over her eyes and bowed her head. "Gomen....but, are you Kisaragi-san?"

((OOC: By all means, DO pop on in. :D))

"So then I realized were I to add extracted ginseng root to my soup I would most likely not be as tired when I woke up the next morning," Takeshi said as he laughed.

The pink haired jounin and the genin laughed together but immediatly stopped when they saw Sabaki enter the room. Takeshi stared at the girl for a few moments and thought, "Hey... it's a girl, I thought most girls were already on teams. Maybe she stinks like me and they can't assign her to a team, or maybe she's so good they didn't have anyone that stunk like me to even the team out. Hey wait, can she see I'm staring at her from here? I better stop it."

Takeshi broke his stare as Kisaragi looks over at the girl and says, "Ah, Yusa-san welcome, I'm glad you got my note. Please take a seat."

Sakuragi looked at Sabaki for a few moments, "She's small and looks younger then me and yet she's already a genin. Oh my, definantly proof that size and age is not an accurate way to evaluate a ninja."

"Yusa, this is Sakuragi Takeshi, he is a stray genin much like yourself," Taka announced.

"Sir, I sort of looked down as being called a 'stray'," Takeshi spoke in an opinionated manner, "It makes me sound like a dog or missing-nin or something like that."

"Don't be silly Sakuragi, you know what I meant by that comment," Taka replied back while patting Takeshi head and speaking in a happy tone, "Calm down you're making a bad first impression on the girl."

Takeshi sighed, being patted on the head made him feel like such a child. Takeshi looked at Sabaki, adjusted his glasses and issued a formal greeting that include getting out of his chair and bowing. "As I was saying to Sakuragi, Miss Yusa, I had dispensed a couple of notes to some stray genins in order to recruit them for an unsupervised emergency mission not far from this village," Taka declared to Sabaki.

He then continued, "There are people in need of help and there are not enough teams to out there to do it all. And that's why you are here, you're being asked to take a mission to save others, I know it sounds difficult, and I know that not having a jounin will only make it worse. However I will be leaving Sakuragi as "specialist" as the point of this mission is "Search, Rescue, and Relieve" all things that he, as a medical expert, has had some experience in. So what do you say, will you help these people?"

Taka gave Sabaki some time to take that all in, after all it was in fact a mouthful. He then adds, "The breifing will start in a bit I'm pretty sure I left one last note somewhere, I'm interested to see if they turn out."

((OOC: I see there is one last Grass Gennin available, let's try to give him the oppurtunity to join and formally introduce himself before I start the briefing.))

As the other boy noticed her, Sabaki's eyes flickered back to him, realizing that he was wearing an enormous pair of glasses. Or maybe they just looked enormous because she couldn't see his mouth. Or his hair. For a few seconds, she just stared back, trying to imagine what he looked like behind all that facegear. He seemed a little older than her....was he one of those handsome boys? Usually the nerds that entered the medical field weren't that cute, but one never knew.

"Ah, Yusa-san welcome, I'm glad you got my note. Please take a seat."

She blushed at the unneccesary respect the Jounin gave her, but allowed a smile to creep onto her lips as she fully entered the room, shutting the door softly behind her. Glancing about the room quickly, Sabaki observed its furnishings, then went to sit in a chair near the Genin. As she lowered herself onto the seat, she felt his eyes on her. Her face started getting hot. Why...is he....looking at me? Sitting up straight, and somewhat stiffly, her gaze once again wandered to the corner of her eyes, but immediately shot back.

"Yusa, this is Sakuragi Takeshi, he is a stray genin much like yourself."

"Sir, I sort of looked down as being called a 'stray'. It makes me sound like a dog or missing-nin or something like that."

Sabaki felt a little indignant at being labeled a stray, and was debating whether to tell Kisaragi that or not, when Takeshi did it for him. Giggling, she nodded her agreement. "Hai, Takeshi-san is right. Perhaps you can just call us 'displaced people'?"

Falling silent as the Jounin went on to explain why she'd been summoned here, Sabaki felt her heart swell with Grass pride and sighed for the poor civilains that been hurt by the monsoon. "Of course I'll help!" she declared, a serious expression on her face. And it'll be an honor to work with an experienced medical-nin like Takeshi-san as well." Sabaki looked over at him and smiled.

Sakuragi casually looked over at Yusa who smiled at him. His eyes shifted into a closed position, probably the only way someone could tell he was smiling. "Hey," he though, "She's smiling, that's the first time I ever seen a girl smile at me. I evidently made a good first impression if she isn't going to pick on me."

And then Sakuragi sort of rubbed the back of his head as he sheepishly laughed, "Ah, you don't have to be flattering, it'll just go to my head. This is actually my first mission, Kisaragi just says I'm experienced because I work at a clinic."

"Don't be so depreciating on your work as a civilian Takeshi," Taka shot back, "Don't you know when in front of a girl you should always relish accomplishments and never vent failure?""

Takeshi's sheepish laughter stopped, as he stared at Taka, "What's that supposed to mean, sir?"

The room felt quiet for a bit as Takeshi stared at Taka and the jounin looked up at the ceiling rubbing his chin, after such an instance of silence Taka jaunted, "Perhaps such a statement was irrelevent to this string of events."

Takeshi took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose, he never liked it when Taka spoke in such an off-topic way.

((OOC: I'm going to start the briefing right now, and if the other genin want to join in later he's always welcome to.))

"Looks like for now it's going to be the two of you, oh well, Yusa-san looks like she can hold her own, and well Takeshi," Taka cracked a toothy smile, "I'm sure you'll learn to hold your own."

Takeshi winced, he really hoped that such a statement had not of made Sabaki think he was weak or some sort of coward constantly running away from fights. Ok, so maybe he has had his fair share of running away from fights what gives Taka the right to joke about it to what is obviously his new team member. Taka then started brief by pulling some pins out of his pockets and then cleared his throat.

"As you can obviously see," as Taka pointed to the map, "This is a map of Crass Country"

Taka placed a pin in the location of the Hidden Grass Village, "We are located here on this map, the mission's location is located approximately 40 miles south from the Hidden Grass Village."

Taka placed a pin south of the village, "This is the small farming village of Kouba, it is considered a small satellite village of the Hidden Grass Village. It's main cash crops consists of rice, sugar, corn, and grain. Through a trading deal with the Hidden Grass Village it is considered a valuable resource to invest money in and in return the village receives a portion of it's goods. However this year has been a busy year for the farmers of Kouba."

Taka cleared his throat and continued, "Due to increasing demands of food by not only our village but of other areas the farmers are considered overworked, sadly practical procedures to handle the monsoon seasons were not as easily available as it was here in our village due to the fact that they are a small village. Because of this the strong winds and constant rainfall has not treated these people well, many houses have collapsed and reports of injury have reached us. Were we aware of this issues we would of assisted them in the processes of safeguarding their houses however they seemed to proud to take assistance even if it was for pay."

Takeshi asked, "Are the villagers loyal to Grass and Kusakage?"

"Of course," Taka answered, "Which comes to your point. Yusa, Sakuragi, your mission as represenitives of the Hidden Leaf Village is to commander the village hall that we built, repair it if necessary, turn it into a relief shelter, and establish communication with our village through this portable radio beacon I am supplying you. Then you must search and rescue all injured villagers, afterwards all we ask is for you to hang tight for at the most a week or so until our relief party is able to advance to the village."

"What are the chances of there being some type of opposition in this area?"

"Good question," Taka answered, "As I'm sure the both of you know the Grass Country has it's worse periods of bandit and looter activity during the two months of the monsoon season due to the unpredictable nature of the rainfall. Remember that our village is supposed to be hidden and so because of that bandits are most likely not to understand to keep away from this village as we are protecting it. Hopefully the village will seen as minute that it will be considered a waste of time to venture forth but in case of bandit activity just make your prescence known and they will most likely make the assumption that if "young ninjas" are present there are bound to be older and stronger ones."

"What is the population of the village?" Takeshi asked.

"Why do you need to know that?"

"So I am able to make a decent head count and make sure people are accounted for."

"It's not a large village Sakuragi, the last report of the village was taken three years ago and they showed a projected population of about 10 or 11 families so a good estimate of now would be about 12 or 13 at best."

"How about supplies? Does this village have any kind of a medical facility?"

"The village is to small and the population is not educated enough to have it's own doctor, because it is considered a satellite city about once every month or so we send a medical team to ensure the health and well being of the village; they generally use the village's hall to perform their work so most likely if the hall is not damaged it should have supplies."

"Ok, well it doesn't seem to hard, I think the hardest part will be staying in the shelter until help comes. But even then if the hall is well supplied then maybe not. I have no more questions," Takeshi declared.

"Your enthusiasm gives me confidence on your success Sakuragi, I am quite pleased," Taka spoke, "Yusa, how about you? Any questions about this mission?"

"Don't you know when in front of a girl you should always relish accomplishments and never vent failure?"

"What's that supposed to mean, sir?"

Silence. Sabaki's face, which had still been turned upwards in a smile as Takeshi humbly denied his experience in the field, fell into a blank expression of puzzlement. Perhaps it was just her innocence on the matter, but regardless, one very important thought stood out. Kisaragi was weird...pinkness, oddness, and all. Perplexed, she shot Takeshi a sideways glance to see if he was just as confused as she was. Mm, he seemed annoyed.

Either way, she was glad when they changed the subject and moved onto the briefing. And yet, Kisaragi wouldn't let the opportunity to tease Takeshi slip. Sabaki thought that the two must've been good friends, maybe like a couple of surrogate brothers. But she had two older brothers of her own, so she knew that their taunts and jokes were rarely serious. No matter how bad a ninja Kisaragi tried to make Takeshi seem, she decided that she'd make her own judgments about that.

Her thoughts fell back into the recesses of her mind as the mission statement was given. 40 miles south....Kouba....trading deal....valuable resource... As more and more facts came pouring in, Sabaki's face once again changed, from amusement at the relationship between Kisaragi and Takeshi, to amazement at how important this mission was. She'd heard that most new Genin usually did jobs equivalent to chores, low-end D rank missions, but this was something on a much larger scale. People's homes and comfort were at stake.

So much responsibility rode on this mission... But then again, she wasn't newly promoted, and Takeshi wasn't green, either. ....Yeah, she could do this. They could do this.

Sabaki zoned back in time to hear about prowling bandits in the area, and her speeding thoughts involuntarily jumped to another subject. She was a defensive specialist, and Takeshi was a medical-ninja. If they got attacked, could they drive away the aggressors? Swallowing hard, she tried to soak in as much reassurement as Kisaragi's briefing allowed.

"Your enthusiasm gives me confidence on your success Sakuragi, I am quite pleased. Yusa, how about you? Any questions about this mission?"

She paused; her mind was still reeling from all the information she'd had to remember. After thinking deliberately hard, Sabaki nodded. "Hai, Kisaragi-san, a few. Are we going to be the only two Genin to go on this relief missions? If we require assistance in any sort of situation, can we rely on being able to get backup? And how long will it take to reach Kouga village?"

Takeshi and Taka looked at Sabaki who looked like she was taking in all the information of the briefing, Taka thought maybe he lost her during the briefing. Takeshi on the other hand thought that maybe Sabaki was thinking to hard, if this is her first mission of this sort maybe she's a bit uneasy about the whole situation. The two were relieved to see her make some questions.

"Are we going to be the only two Genin to go on this relief missions? If we require assistance in any sort of situation, can we rely on being able to get backup? And how long will it take to reach Kouga village?"

"My, my," Kisaragi answered, "You're certainly inquisitive, I like that, inquisitive people are certainly much smart and have more sense then those who have no questions. After all 'there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers."

Takeshi looked at his friend, did he just spin his way around her answers? When Taka started talking Takeshi stopped thinking that. "As I said before sadly yes due to staffing constraints and the lack of genin wanting to accept the mission I'm afraid that you two are the only ones assigned to this relief mission. Though honestly there are several other teams on other relief missions, we would of given you one of theirs instead but they're much further away from the village. We tried trading missions around to the point to where the volunteers, you guys, would be given the job of the lowest rank, but most of the other jobs are either to far to be safe, or are just to dangerous to be on to not be supervised by Jounin."

Taka then puts a backpack on the desk and opens it up to show that the radio is in it. "That's also why you get this portable radio beacon, since you're close to the village you should be more then able to gain access to village radio channels to report your status and if there's an emergency you can radio us for help and we'll get someone out there as quickly as possible. Also I'm sure the villagers themselves aren't just going to stand around and act helpless just remember that you're represenatives of the Hidden Grass Village and any animosity or rudeness you show them may look bad on our reputation but hey if they want to help let them, nothing wrong with getting help if it's because there's to much to do."

Takeshi rejolted, "Well I see something wrong of letting an inexperienced farmer trying to go into a collapsing building in an attempt to save someone, he'll just hurt himself."

Taka shrugged, "Well I certainly would expect the two of you to use common sense and don't put anyone in harm's way. Especially you Takeshi, remember you're the most qualified person and if I hear in the debriefing that someone even Yusa got hurt because of your doing I am holding you responsible for it and you can kiss your protector goodbye because you'll be going back to the academy."

A sweat drop plopped down the side of Takeshi's face as he looked down at the table and sort of played with his fingers; he really wished he wasn't in charge he always felt that he never had the abilities to be a leader, and now he's been thrusted into a leadership position and if he lost... he loses his title as ninja.

Taka continued, "Time wise Yusa-san the walk to Koubai Village will take maybe two/three days if you start today maybe a tad bit longer due to the rain, once you have established the beacon the relief will start packing up equipment by your report so be accurate and will come by wagon. I would just exit our village south and follow the trail down to the village. If you think you know of a faster way to get there go on. However most of the transportation equipment we have is already in use as well, also 40 miles isn't hard to walk just be properly equipped to handle the rain and also remember additional excess equipment could weigh you down."

Taka then removed the pins from the map and rolled the sheet of paper up and stood up out of his chair. "Ok, well unless either of you have any more questions I better get a move on, after all I have my own team to worry about. Best of luck to the both of us, eh?" Taka spoke as he smiled.

"You're certainly inquisitive, I like that, inquisitive people are certainly much smart and have more sense then those who have no questions."

Sabaki blushed with pleasure at the compliments, then settled back down to hear the answers to her questions.

They were mostly on their own. Of course, the villagers might help, but she didn't know how reliable they would be. The common, uneducated ones tended to be a little...stupid. Until she got the chance to assess their usefulness, she'd have to proceed with the assumption that she and Takeshi were alone in this mission. Also, they were representatives of the Hidden Grass, meaning they'd have to do an exceptionally good job...or else. Poor Takeshi-san, she thought, sweatdropping as she glanced at her teammate. The stakes are higher for him. For both our sakes, I guess we'll just have to extra cautious.

"Ok, well unless either of you have any more questions I better get a move on, after all I have my own team to worry about. Best of luck to the both of us, eh?"

"Hai, Kisaragi-san, and thank you for granting me the opportunity to carry out this mission with Takeshi-san," Sabaki said with deep respect, standing and bowing to the pink-haired Jounin. Turning to Takeshi, she added, "I guess we'd better set out as soon as possible... I'm going to head home and pack some things...so...we'll meet at the gates in an hour?"

She took one of the radios, bowed again to both Kisaragi and Takeshi, then left, hurriedly brushing past the congregating teams, trembling slightly with the excitement of an impending mission...

Takeshi brought his head up as Sabaki spoke to Taka, he then looked at her when she turned to look at him and said, "I guess we'd better set out as soon as possible... I'm going to head home and pack some things...so...we'll meet at the gates in an hour?"

Before Takeshi was able to say anything she had already picked up a radio and left, "She's... quite tenacious, she reminds me of you... except better looking," Taka snickered, "so what do you think of her?"

"She's alright, she definantly made a good first impression," Takeshi answered.

"Well I better get a move on, I'll see you later Takeshi."

"Yeah, see you later."

Taka walked over to the door opened it, and looked back, "Hey, bump on a log, remember you only have an hour to get ready."

"Oh, right, right."

As Taka left he flashed a thumbs-up sign at his friend, Takeshi got up from his chair and grabbed the back pack that had the portable radio beacon. He put it on his back and left the room, as he walked through the mission hall he grabbed his Sakkat from the wall and opened the door to the mission hall. While standing outside he adjusted the straps of the straw hat as he realized he forget to ask Sabaki for her medical stats. He smacked himself on the forehead for such an oversight and decided he'll probably need to go to the medical academy to view her medical records. He puts the hat on and walks out into the rain.

Moments later Takeshi enters the medical academy of the Hidden Grass Village, this was where Takeshi learned his medical jutsus after he became a genin. As a student here Takeshi had spent time organizing enough files to know that the academy has medical records of almost all the ninjas out on the field. They generally have to keep them in case of emergency they'll know special conditions about there men and women. Takeshi approached the front desk and rings the bell, he then fills in the sign-in sheet of what time he entered, who he is, and what his purpose was while waiting for the clerk. After about five minutes the clerk finally showed up, he apologized to Takeshi for the wait, "Is this your first day here?" Takeshi asked.

"Um, yes?" the boy answered back in a scared manner.

"I remember when I first came here as a file clerk, don't be sorry I know it's hard stuff," Takeshi said,"Could you just give me Yusa Sabaki's medical records to view please."

The clerk disappeare for a few moments then returned with a thin manilla file, in black letters on the tab it said, "Yusa, Sabaki." Takeshi opened the file and all that was in it was a small sheet of paper. Takeshi read it to himself:

"Age 8: Possible signs of Malnutruition, Starvation, and Abuse."

It was then followed by a small statement given by the senior medical practicioner of the Hidden Grass Village Acadmey that was evidently her post-academy physical.

"Yusa, shows fair and healthy signs to be able to perform missions."

Takeshi closed the file he looked over at the clerk and said, "Are you sure this is all of this file?"

The clerk poked his head up from his work and said, "Yeah, that was the only Yusa, Sabaki on file."

Takeshi looked a bit pressed, "Hey let me ask you a question," Takeshi looked at the clerk and said, "How exactly would a person not have any medical history till they were 8 years old?"

"Oh I can answer that easily," the clerk chirped back, "they were an orphan. Orphanages generally never keep records on orphans. So orphans generally aren't able to establish medical history till they're adopted."

"How do you know that?"

"Simple, I'm adopted."

"I see, well, thanks," Takeshi said as he gives the file back to the clerk and exited the academy.

As Takeshi walked to the clinic to pick up supplies he began thinking to himself, "Well that was a waste of time, the only thing I know is that she is in good enough shape to take the mission, but I know nothing of her medical allergies and past sicknesses. This could be dangerous, what if she gets hurt or sick and I do worse because she's allergic to the standard method? And now I know that she's an orphan too, she's going to look at me and she's going to know I know, I know it. Even with all this headgear on it seems like people can read me like a book. Oh why did I have to snooping through her medical records? Can't I just respect people's privacy?! I could of just asked her allergies when I met her at the south gate. But no, I had to be nosy. Man, this really sucks."

Takeshi then noticed he was at the clinic he entered through the front door, greeted his mom then walked through the waiting room, the main boarding room, and entered a door that had a sign hung on it that said, "Authorized Personnel Only".

Takeshi unlocks the door and enters the room, this was an equipment storage room where the family kept most of it's medical equipment when needed. Takeshi grabbed a large hiking back pack and inserted the smaller back pack into it. He then opened up the refridgerator in the storage room and pulled out small bags of smoked meat and condensed foods and put them in a small cloth bag with canned goods. He also grabbed a large case of bandages and put them in the bag. Takeshi left the storage room with the bag in his hand as he walked through the boarding room, and into the kitchen, he then walked to a small door that had a sign on the door that said, "Takeshi's Lab, None Shall Pass!"

He opens the door and the room looks like the some sort of pharmacy lab with all sorts of burners and racks of potions and such. Takeshi walks over to a shelf near a series of burners and looks at the contents of the shelf, "Ok I will probably need one of set 12, 19, and 22," he said to himself.

Using his organized grid system Takeshi pulls out 3 cases and checks to make sure he was correct, "Wilderness Survival Package, Major First Aid Kit, and Disaster Relief, yeah that's about right."

Takeshi exited his lab, he put the cases of medicine on the kitchen table and grabbed his back pack; he emptied the contents on to the table not even noticing Shi sitting there. The genin started to reorganize and fit all the items into the backpack in an attempt to make the pack seem less bulky and therefore would require less weight to move it then necessary. Shi looked up at his younger brother and asked, "Preparing for war?"

"Not necessarily, I finally got my first mission so I'm packing extra equipment."

"And this extra equipment, is it coming from the clinic's inventory?"

"Some of it, but not all, the bandages granted are the clinic's, but otherwise I'm just packing my share of non-perishable food for the time of the mission."

"What about the medicine?" Shi asked.

Takeshi looked down at the three cases of medicine and put his hands on his hips, "Well last time I checked I was in charge of making the medicine's in this clinic, so wouldn't a safe assumption be that once I got back I would remake the medicines I used?"

"Takeshi that medicine is the only way we make money these days!"

"What are the odds that we'll sell all the medicine in my lab? Trust me I'll make more when I get back."

"Fine, fine. Just leave I swear I don't even know why I bother."

Takeshi grabbed the back pack in a flustered manner and put it on then left the room. As he was about to exit when he saw that Mrs. Fujiyoshi was waking up. So he walked over to her bed and looked at her, Mrs. Fujiyoshi looked up and smiled, "Take-chan, what are you packed for?"

"I've been given my first mission so I have to go."

"That's great, I'm glad I lived to see you go on your first mission, Take-chan you know... you've always been like a grandson I wish I had."

"Well thank you Mrs. Fujiyoshi, that's mean a lot to me."

Mrs. Fujiyoshi moved her hands to her neck and started removing something from her she then held Takeshi's hand and dropped a silver necklace with a silver shield on it into his hand. "I want you to keep this," Mrs. Fujiyoshi stated, "For good luck."

Takeshi picked up the necklace and looked at it, "I can't take this Mrs. Fujiyoshi, it's far to extravagant for someone like me."

"Take it child," Mrs. Fujiyoshi pushed the neclace toward him, "a handsome child deserves to have a necklace. Also I'm old now, I have no need for good luck anymore."

Takeshi looked at the necklace and realized that were he to not accept she would be greatly offended. So he put the necklace around his neck, closed the clamp and bore it with pride on top of his undershirt and exposed between the cloths of his collar. "Thank you Mrs. Fujiyoshi," Takeshi said, "I'll never take it off."

And once he said his goodbye to Mrs. Fujiyoshi Takeshi picked up his backpack put it on and left the clinic to go to the southgate.

Sabaki was walking with a new spring in her step, a bright grin plastered on her face, and barely kept herself from singing out of joy. Now that she was out of the stuffy mission hall, away from the serious atmosphere of the briefing room, the full realization of her new mission had dawned on her. She'd even had to repeat it out loud to convince herself it was really true. A mission. For someone like her, of all people, who'd waited so long for the chance to serve as a real ninja of the Hidden Grass.

Looking out at the heavy rain, relatively dry underneath the thick canvas roof over the front of the village shops, she decided that not even the monsoon could dampen her spirits. Smiling somewhat loftily, Sabaki turned and continued on home.

Finally, she arrived back, and loudly announced her presence with the squishing of her wet sandals on the floor... Her brother, Iwane, looked up at her from the kitchen table, where he was sitting with both feet on the table, leaning back on his chair, and holding a magazine crisply in his hand. The Chuunin looked her up and down, then finally cracked his face into a grin. "You're certainly in high spirits today, Squirt. What, did a boy finally ask you out?"

She stuck his tongue out at him, pretending to wrench an orange from the fruit basket and throw it at him. Iwane played along, holding his magazine protectively in front of him, as if the flimsy paper would protect him. "I was only joking! Geez...so uptight, you are... It only proves that you're desperate," he added in a sing-song voice, raising the magazine up a little further, just in case.

Sabaki blew him a raspberry, throwing the orange up into the air. "For your information," she declared proudly, letting the fruit land firmly in her palm as it descended, "I just received my first mission. And it's not a boring 'rescue-the-cat' or 'pick-up-the-garbage' mission, either. I'm going to a village outside of Hidden Grass and helping with the relief effort. I'll probably be gone for a few days...so tell Mom and Dad for me, okay?"

A less lighthearted smile crossed Iwane's face, and for a moment, he paused, then opened his mouth to say something. Sabaki interjected quickly, waving her hands. "Don't worry, I'll be careful. The Jounin that briefed me said there wasn't too much danger of enemy attack."

"Right...well, all the same, expect the unexpected. Don't let your guard drop."

"I'll be okay," she stated again for emphasis, nodding seriously to show him that she wasn't taking the mission lightly. "...now if you'll excuse me, I need to go pack." She couldn't help but grin again, though, as she rushed upstairs to fetch her knapsack. Iwane, stone-faced, watched her go.

-----A few minutes later-----

"Just remember, if either Banjaku or I get a notice saying that you've gone and broken an arm, or lost a finger, or...had your eyes removed, I'm going to come right down there and teach a good, hard lesson to whatever's left of you."

Sabaki wrinkled her nose, sniffing lightly as the smell of drenched earth reached her nose. She was due at the south gate in ten minutes... With both hands on either strap of her knapsack, her hitai-ate carefully re-tied around her neck, and having double-checked all her supplies, she was ready to go. "I know, I know," she whined, turning her head halfway back to look at Iwane. "Can you let go of my knapsack now?"

"Oh, right. Sorry."

"Hmph."

With a quick hug and yet another promise that she would be careful and not lose any limbs, etc., Sabaki was running down the streets, relishing the cool chill of the wind against her face. She felt her brother's eyes on her back, probably waiting until she disappeared completely into the rainy fog, and inwardly smiled. It was great to have someone who cared so much about her... For him, she'd keep her promise to stay safe.

A few minutes later, the sound of her sandals splashing into various puddles on the ground slowed, then ceased, as Sabaki stopped running to observe the south gate area. She couldn't see Takeshi anywhere; maybe it was just the fog, or he hadn't arrived yet. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, she adjusted her hat, then walked on towards the gates, planning to wait for him by the pillar.
