GOMS Technique

GOMS technique is used too analyse the time it takes a user too perform actions on their computer. The faster the action time is the more efficient the action is.

These are the calculations based on GOMS. They are only generalized values. In the subject the "M" value was not considered for any part of our exercises.

P 1.1 sec Pointing with a mouse
B 0.1 sec Pressing OR releasing a mouse button
H 0.4 sec Moving the hand between the keyboard and mouse
N 1.2 sec Mental act of routine thinking or preceiving

Examples

move file into another window P+B+P+B 1.1+0.1+1.1+0.1 = 2.4sec
select a file, use a menu too delete P+B+B+P+B+P+B 1.1+0.1+0.1+1.1+0.1+1.1+0.1 = 3.7sec
select a file, use a key too delete and choose yes with mouse P+B+B+K+P+B+B 1.1+0.1+0.1+0.28+1.1+0.1+0.1 = 2.88sec

From examples 2 and 3 you can see that the second one is faster and therefore more efficient in deleting a file.
