Do you have what it takes to be eternal?
ASP failed again, but Flash came along. He's my hero now. Check out the pics!
Today was the day of Flash. Flash MX to be precise. Not too hard to use, although I don't know my way around very well yet, but definitely a very powerful tool. Wait till I get the hang of it. Oh baby. Check out the menu too. Smoooooooth. I think I'm gonna get off this chair for a bit now.
Ok, finally added some real content. Enough meddling with those pictures for now. Time to beef up this site. New things include a 'Hiking' page, and the 'Contact' page. Also I'm going to get my partners in crime to write the full stories of our hiking trips. I wonder how many spelling and grammar mistakes I've made now. I keep looking back and finding a lot. Doubt I'm getting them all. Anyway, comments will be appreciated. That's it. I need sleep.
Damn Rogers and it's almost complete uselessness. If you ever need anything from them, they don't pull through. Sucks. It seems they don't support ASP files, and instantly the pictures section that I've worked on the most and the only one that is important and uses ASP doesn't work. GRR! Well, guess what? I've worked on it even more, tweaking and tweaking, and there are almost no visual changes whatsoever, but the code is reduced, fixed, and optimized. I now also support portrait pictures better. If I ever care enough I may make portrait thumbnails too, but currently that's too much trouble.
Schick Extreme 3 Disposable blades! Best in the world! Come get them right here! Guaranteed to shave everything off your cheekbones! Anyway, why doesn't ASP work?!?!?!? Going to kill! Unbelievable. First I'm trying to have this site hosted on a UNIX server, and that's case sensitive, which of course I have to find out the hard way.
Okie dokie. Things are starting to roll. Genius and knowledge are slowly penetrating into my heavily armored brain. Upon questioning, I have made the pictures wrap-around (first picture has 'Previous' link to the last, and last picture has 'Next' link to first). Also I have altered the appearance of the thumbnail page yet again, hopefully for the better. And done baby, DONE! That's all she wrote for the pics for now.
Who would have thought that making something so simple had so many rules. God, couldn't they make ASP with a standard language? It took me forever to realize that my code in the ASP file wasn't working because I was in VBScript mode. I guess this is the learning curve. Glad I finally got that after that much stress. Damn it feels good to actually have a working site. Content may be lacking, but at least I don't have to be embarrassed about the site now. Besides, content can be added. Anyway, 'Pictures' section is finally working with only two files and less than 90 lines as opposed to 23 separate files. Whew! That's all for now. Time to go play some Hacky Sack!!! YAY!
Really early morning of. Ok, done some major head-banging today. More than likely I will start this page from scratch, however, I will keep a few neat things that I've learned and actually got working. The menu still doesn't work, and I still haven't been able to incorporate the damn ASP scripting into my page to handle the pictures. GODDAMN! However, I've learned to mess with the scrollbars, albeit rather unstably, but taking from others and adapting to my preference seems to work. Credit to gamespot.com for 'volunteering' their scrollbars to me. I did make some changes. Also, I've attempted to create some borders for the thumbs, and that went to hell, along with numerous hours of my life. But I now know a bit about Photoshop, and also that I'm not very good at it or very creative. Anyway, my 5 hours of Photoshop produced the amazing 2 pixel high tile that you now see as the background on this page. Sad isn't it? But I like it, and it goes well with my new scrollbars. And all you complainers out there that have nothing better to do should not simply override all the settings of a page, because you miss out. Honestly, my scrollbars aren't made to destroy your eyes. I'm sure some people make retarded bright pink scrollbars that reduce your vision by 10 points, but those are just personal homepages, and what the hell are you doing visiting them anyway if you don't know the people?! Meanwhile people that work to make everything smooth looking get shafted because you are stubborn and think everything new is bad. Grow up. Mesh with the world. Nuff blabbering, tomorrow this page may or may not remain. Who knows what fate has in store? Actually, I do. Ta!
Well, starting to restructure the page. I'm also trying to cut my loses. The 'Pictures' section is working now, with the help of 23 separate files. ARGH! I'll figure it out sometime! I'm also going to have multiple entries on some days, so I made a little change this 'Home' section to accommodate that. Last, but not least, a meager attempt at some scripting for a dynamic menu system. Failed. But I will fix it! Stay tuned! Sorta works now. Picture section works nicely. Yay!
Ok, second go at this today. Inspired by the way the World of Warcraft Screenshot page is modeled, I am starting to restructure my 'Pictures' page using tables within tables within tables to display the thumbs with custom borders. It really is a pretty genius system. Now I have to make some borders of my own. Hopefully I'll finish this tonight. Ta!
Check out the spiffy logo in the top frame. Pretty neat. Too bad I can't take credit for it. Got the full picture from 3dcrew.com and it's a sweet picture! Thank you 3dcrew!
Made some progress, but I still can't figure out how to link the Hiking pictures properly. GRRRR!!!
Started this webpage today. My first webpage. It's gonna be big. Mark my words!
