Days in Whistler

July 5, 2004

Today was a fun day at Whistler, I started the day off okay at 9:00AM (Yay, a full 8+ 1/2 hours of rest). Ate a bacon and egg breakfast and then went out to see the sites. We went up the gondola cable cars up to the top of a peak (I assume the mountain is called Gondola). When we got there mom took a picture next to the wooden Native statue, I took a picture next to the Big Black Bear (wooden statue too). We walked up the trails to see the snow (yes, there is still snow at this time of year) and took some pictures there too. Kind of what annoyed me a little was that my parents were frightened that I might slip on a rock, and break a bone -_- We're not even doing anything like the mountain bikers or going out of tourist areas, and they're already scared half to death by me walking up a path. Oh well, that's what happens when you live the lap of luxury for too long.

My dad constant says he could do more dangerous hiking paths when he was young, and it is kind of annoying to hear "could" and not "can" so often. After hiking a little around the area and taking LOTS of pictures of the scenery, we went for lunch. Ate a good double-patty cheese burger, fries and played 1080 on Gamecube (for FREE). we went back down the Gondola and watched the mountain bikers go down the slopes. There are some easy ones, and lots of really hard ones. Also nobody really goes down slow. I'm sure I could do the easy ones, and I just need a bit more practise on the Mill Pond trails to gain some confidence and speed.

Came home for a 30 minute break and then family and I went out for a drive around Whistler. Our stops were Lost Lake which was a nice and quiet beach (because you're not allowed bring your car to park, just drop-off). Then we went to Green lake to take some pictures. We foud out that we can't see the bottom and that it's a lake in a great big valley. Everyone got scared already and rushed back to the car after reading that the bottom of the lake can't be seen *rolls eyes* except me who was still taking pictures. We drove around more to Alta Lake (Rainbow Lake). The area was also quiet and fairly free of the commercialism that stains Whistler. Took some pictures and went back to our Tourist village. We stopped over at the golf driving range and started firing off golf balls. My family had trouble getting the golf balls off the ground. I got the hang of it after a few tries and soon I was reaching the 80m mark (Yay). #1 use all your body weight for the tiny golf ball. #2 Let the club do the swinging, and throw your body weight into the swing. #3 Just like a lot of sports it tests the ability of control and flexibility of a rarely used joint or set of joints (in this case, your ability to twist your back from looking back to looking forward, and how well you shift your legs to throw the turn). That was lots of fun, then my bro and I went to the weight room for more exercise while mom and dad went back to the room for rest (they were trying to golf too). After the standard d-boat workout ^_~ my bro and I went back to the room. Took a shower, played games and eat dinner. After dinner and more games, we started to pack. I told my parents that I wanted to buy a stuffed cow from the Cow's ice cream store (obviously for someone else). That's about it, I head for HK tomorrow late night, good night.
