Snoopy's World

July 20, 2004

Another update, although we seem to be going out less, and mainly just staying at home and relaxing. However, today we went out to explore Sha Tin, but getting ready first was the hard part of the day. We dropped off stuff at Grandma's,and I chatted with some late waking friends for a bit. When we left the door, and gone down the elevator to the main floor, dad remembered he doesn't have the keys for the van, so he went back to pick it up. When we were in the van, he couldn't find the map, so he was frustrated that he had to go back again to pick up the map too.

Driving to Sha Tin is no problem, as it is a developed urban area. However since the density of people is high, then the amount of space you have to yourself, or in this case the van, is EXTREMELY small. When dad was driving into the entrance, the collision warning signal was going off like crazy, and dad was very scared to damage uncle's van. After parking, we took the parking elevator up and stopped on the Snoopy's World floor. I was mistaken to think that my sister bought her Snoopy merchandise here (anyone could make that assumption though). It's actually just a place for taking pictures, and a picnic area.

After taking pictures and video, we went to Fortress World to look at appliances. Dad was looking for a waffle-maker for Grandma so she wouldn't need to buy snacks and instead make them. He found one and then we were going to look for a place to eat. Getting to lunch took some time though as we spent about half an hour just trying to find an entrance from the mall to the adjacent IKEA. Apparently there's no way inbetween the 2 facilities. So we went to Maxim's for lunch instead.

Lunch was good, and we didn't order too much this time either. After lunch we went to explore North of Kownloon, otherwise known as New Territories (A very large section of HK is the New Territories). We took a wrong turn because the signs were not very helpful when they tell you where you're going AT the intersection you need to be in and not beforehand. So we got lost in a small and very steep (going up hill and then down hill) street. Dad backtracked and we drove to where we planned to pass by and that was the college in the area. After seeing the college built on practically the hillside and coast of the area, we then headed back and it was a good thing too because it started to pour after that.
