Loathsome Jetlag

July 8, 2004

Flying to HK over timezones means that anyone on the flight has lost an entire day (July 7th) in flight. Everyone was tired, although we all stayed awake at the very least until we got to Grandma's place. When we got there, we surprised my relatives because dad didn't add properly and said we leave july 7th and wouldn't be there until July 9th. Hahaha, that's new for my dad, anyways the day itself was spent sleeping for everyone except me. I played around a bit, and I didn't want to sleep because I wanted to adapt to the sleeping patterns more quickly. So I stayed up until it was night time and dropped dead asleep on my futon.

July 9 and July 10, 2004

These 2 days were similar if not exactly the same as July 8th, except I was adapting to the time zone difference more. I'd play around for 2 hours on my portable ps1 (a pack of 8 rechargeable NiMH batteries lasts me 50 minutes), play with a few toys, get stuffed with snacks and regular meals from grandma, go out for dinner with the rest of the family and that would be it. However, July 10th was also the night we went to our proper apartment at Diamond Hill. When the family arrived there, it was a little dusty, the toilet, aircon, and living room light were fixed and changed for the better. Other than that, the entire place hasn't changed for 2 years.

July 11, 2004

This day we woke up from our new place, and planned a visit to Kowloon Tong where one of HK's best malls were. The mall itself is about the size of Eaton's centre, and it was a lot busier than when I was last there. It would appear that HK's retail industry is very sensitive to the state of the economy. In the evening before dinner, we went swimming at the complex's recreation centre. The place is very nice and there are lots of other facilities there too. I'll play badminton with my cousin Calvin perhaps later this month. Dinner was usual at Grandma's house, and regularly coming back to Diamond Hill at 11:00PM.
