What
do you think of when you think of Switzerland? Is it the dramatic landscapes and
quaint country settings? Or is it the unique French, German and Italian cultural
influences? Maybe it's the historic castles and heritage? Whatever it is,
Switzerland has something special for you whether your idea of the perfect
holiday is hiking in a world of breathtaking vistas or pampering yourself in the
lap of luxury.
In this website, we will be introducing to you 4 different places
Zurich
The
"Matterhorn" is one of the world's most famous mountain. It raises
4478 meters high, but is not the highest mountain in Switzerland. The first men
who managed to climb to the top of this mountain was a group of seven
mountaineers around Sir Whymper from Great Britain on July 14, 1865. Four of the
seven men died on the way back. The locals fondly call it as “Horu”.
A
few miles from away from the small Swiss city of Interlakien (named so because
it sits between 2 lakes) is a towering snow capped peak called Mount Jungfrau.
It can be seen from just above anywhere in the town. Jungfrau, in German means
“virgin”.
Geneva
Geneva
is at the heart of Europe! This small city of 282 km2 is located
between the Alps and the Jura mountains, at the extreme southwest of
Switzerland. This city enjoys a particulary riche cultural life. Concerts and
performances of all kinds, as well as exhibitions take place round the year.
Geneva is proud of its 3 music conservatories and of its opera, where the
world’s greatest lyrical artist performs regularly. Geneva is also the home to
many international organizations.
