Today's Overlong Rant Thing

One of those days which was hardly bad, but not real productive in the comic-drawing-sense. I was going to draw this comic . . . then changed my mind and tried another and then realized I needed to get a real life sketch at home to pull it off. But when I got home, there were peanuts calling to me from the snack closet and I ended up eating every last remaining little goober. Because they were shelled (all that de shelling time builds up), it took me about an hour to finish them (okay, okay, there were a lot of peanuts!) and besides, I was reading this book called "Wit'ch Fire" at the same time. Wit'ch Fire. Interesting book, but it started out better than it ended up becoming. I'm losing interest in all the characters, which is a very bad thing when I generally won't even read a book if the characters don't grab me. Yep.

Besides that, I had the priveledge of attending an "Assembly" today. I usually just find some corner to hide out in (even if I have to resort to a bathroom) and skip it altogether. But my brother was singing the "Star Spangled Banner" in a group at the beginning of this particular assembly, so I had to go. Out of filial loyalty.

Well, my brother's group did a really nice job. That was about the first five minutes of the assembly. For some reason, the rest of it was a little less thrilling. I got to watch cheerleaders dance with guys in tank tops. To a really bad rappish re-mix. I tell you, if yer gonna dance, dance to music! This was a very repetitive beat with incomprehensible lyrics. Oh, they tacked on a bit of Anastasia at the beginning. Hurrah. Okay, granted, I'm not totally immune to the charms of guys in tank tops. But that's beside the point.

And the assembly went downhill from there. Well, there was a brilliant break dancing routine by my Psychology teacher . . . and a moderately funny spoof of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" . . . and about an hour of boring, banal spirit contests and other such fluff. Dance Company performed and, once again, defied the dress standards. No surprise there. The rappish music wasn't any surprise either. And I think they used the same dance routine as last time.

And that's enough talk for today. I'm tired.
