This is a photographic review of John Webb's surprise retirement party. It was a very warm Saturday. The date was June 28, 2003. He was under the impression that the reason he was laboring in the back yard, putting up tents and such, was for an engagement party for Elishka, his stepdaughter. Additionally, Henni, his wife, had him running errands to Glendale, etc. to pick up a number of items including the cake and ice. Little did he know that he was setting up the back yard and running the errands for his own retirement party! :)
Imagine his reaction when he realized it was all for him.......
John was so shocked....his nephew, Wes McGuire, and his family had flown in from Groves, TX for the event. He had not seen them in almost two years and they had not visited California in approximately eighteen year. Wes is the son of John's late sister June. As they said, "June(Memaw) would have been here if she were still with us. We're here for Memaw." This brought a lot of tears from John's eyes. Wes not only flew his wife and two sons to California from Texas, he also flew his daughter in from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. What a guy!
