The Downside of playing Saxophone and Piano

  • Anyone not in band will think you are a brass instrument.... including those pianists who are too good for band
  • Few people in your band know that "double forte" is really fortissimo
  • Felow band members will think you're being perverted when you properly pronounce pianist (pee-uhnist) not pee-ah-nist
This really get's in the way when you have a midwestern accent and tend not to pronounce your Ts
  • You ruin the spring tension in your keys on your saxophone from pressing down hard when you play loud (bad piano habit)
  • Your piano teacher yells at you for playing so loud during marching season
  • Fellow pianists don't know what a mellophone is when you tell them about your worst enemy
  • the curved piano hand position screws up your flat handed saxophone hand position
  • You flat handed sax hand position screws up your curved piano hand position
