Welcome to the Howard Family Web Site. We hope you enjoy your visit and thanks for stopping by.

We became a family in November 1996 with a small but beautiful wedding and with our first child Stevie, already on the way.

Stevie was born in July of 1997. That's a moment we will never forget. There's nothing in the world like seeing your child born, especially your first. It's to say the least, life altering.

Our life together as a family has been a rocky road, but we refuse to give up. We have a family that's worth fighting for and right now were fighting harder than ever. Steven has had a life changing experience and now more than ever our family has the best chance of success.

Jumping forward to March of 2000, Our precious daughter Michaela was born. The pregnancy was full of complications and we were always in fear of losing her. When she was finally born, via c-section, she wasn't absorbing oxygen so she was on supplemental oxygen for her first day on earth. Sarah wasn't even able to see her for many, many hours while they both recovered. Steven was a nervous wreck. He wouldn't rest until Michaela was taken off the oxygen. Finally we were able to take the women of the family home. Our family was finally at home together where and how they belonged.

A few months after Michaela was born Steven surprised the family with the news that he was moving all of us to Indiana so that Sarah could get to know her half sister she barely knew. Sarah was very excited. Less than a month later we were in Lafayette, Indiana. We just dropped everything and ran. Oh what a drive.

While in Indiana, Steven who at the time was driving semi's professionally, found out he had diabetes during a pre-employment D.O.T physical exam and would be unable to continue in that field at that time. It wasn't easy for him to learn he had a deadly disease that's among the number one causes of death in America. For a while he was very depressed. He became a stay at home Dad with the full time job of child care. It wasn't easy, he made mistakes, but he did his best. Sarah meanwhile worked real hard as a waitress. We never made enough for bills which triggered alot of stress, we ended up buckling under the stress and separated, Sarah staying in Indiana for a time, Steven returning to Utah. Sarah soon followed and we got back together deciding to give it another try. Sarah your determination and will power is incredible.

Currently we are together with a whole new drive in life and reason for fighting. In the past Steven gave up to easily, now with his life altering experience he has had, giving up isn't an option any longer. WE WILL SUCCEED!!

Steven is currently in the Utah State Prison and is using all his free time, which is all day, to better his life, spiritually and professionally. One thing he's doing is learning HTML and associated scripts to become a web designer. This web site is his first real life attempt and is being used to build up his skills and knowledge in a real life online environment.

The process Steven has to take to learn HTML and scripts is very laborious and wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for the help and continued support of his parents and Sarah.

Steven's parents painstakingly sent him a photo-copy of a book to study and learn, all 400 plus pages. Steven reads and studies, then hand writes the "Markup" for sample pages and mails them to Sarah. Sarah then takes the time out of her already hectic and busy days to type in the markup using TextPad which is similar to notepad in Windows, a very basic text editor, validates for errors if any, prints the results, and mails them back to Steven. Steven learns from the mistakes, then if necessary he rewrites it. This detailed and time consuming process is needed because Steven has no access to a computer. But he refuses to let that hold him back from bettering his professional future.
