Ok…I’m not starving. But I AM an
artist and I struggle each day to make a living while trying to keep my
creative spirit alive. It’s hard—no, it’s nearly impossible to work at an
office doing Uncreative
work all day and then come home and create artwork I love. In fact, I have
sensed that slowly but surely over the last 5 years my proverbial ‘creative
juices’ have dried up. I have numerous half-finished artworks lying on my art
desk that I fear will never become a finished piece of work since my entire
time is spent working in a business office that allows for no creative outlet
at all.
Why am I lowering myself to
‘cyberbegging’??
Honestly, I didn’t even know such a thing existed until I saw an
article on CNN. Most amazingly, I saw that people were actually making money
and being able to pay off their credit cards through the generosity of others.
I was amazed. And since almost all of
the great artists had wealthy patrons supporting them-Michelangelo, Leonardo De
Vinci to name just a few-I figured it was not lowering myself or compromising
my integrity in any way by allowing a broad range of people to ‘collectively
support’ my artistic endeavors.
Besides, I honestly feel that
‘begging’ for money to support my art is just as, and many times, MORE
honorable than trying to ‘beg’ for money by selling some bogus or worthless
product on the internet. I believe in
me-there’s little I believe in when it comes to consumer products.
What will I actually do with any financial support that may result from
this website?
