Poetry:
I
am also compiling A book of poetry titled: Life, Motherhood and What’s
for Dinner
(At

Accomplishment”
Quiet Accomplishment
By Gerrie Hallas
(Published as Gerrie
Cockburn)
Master artists covet my
masterpiece.
Sculptor and painter fail
Rare marble coarse
Vivid canvas dead.
The finest carpenters and
musicians
Abandon tools grown suddenly
unwieldy.
No craftsman can mime the
total perfection
No Man alone can forge an
equal.
Most precious roses
Robbed of sweetness
Wither forgotten
Before the treasure I have
wrought.
Flawless diamonds dull
Fire quenched by the shadow
Of my ultimate
A true wonder.
I pass unnoticed
No recognition gained
For my quiet accomplishment.
Except on Mother’s Day.
