Born in 1973 in the salubrious environs of Lewisham Hospital, I spent my childhood running around the streets and parks of Southeast London. After a strict Catholic Convent education, I finally escaped to study Biology in the relatively rural City of Bristol. Here, as well as the usual metamorphosis into adulthood proper, I became inspired to travel. Brought on by the tales told by others, and a deepening desire to see the world at first hand, I soon embarked on a difficult but exciting journey of my own. It took me through Israel and the Middle East, India, Indonesia and China, followed later by southern Africa. I am pleased to say the travel bug and itchy feet still lurk somewhere within me.

Back in the UK, I landed a job with the BBC Natural History Unit, based in Bristol. The most exciting and indeed the longest project I worked on was a six-part landmark series for BBC2, called Wild Africa. I worked alongside some of the top wildlife cameramen in the world, and gained valuable production experience, both in the management and research fields.

But I realised my true passion for broadcasting lies in the arena of news and current affairs. I am now studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Westminster, and expect to move into this field during 2003.
