Radiator and Cooling System- Page 2

This is the second page of the cooling system upgrade.

Fan Dash Indicator Light

I wired this LED into the dash so I can tell when the fan is operating. It sits nex to my aftermarket voltage gauge and temperature sensor. The aftermarket temperature sensor allows me to set the radiator temp switch very accurately. I preferred this to the stock gauge with no markings.

Diode (rectifier) for the Fan Indicator Light

After the indicator light was installed, it worked well and went on when the fan was activated. However, at night on the freeway, the air passing past the fan turned it fast enough to act as a small windmill/generator, and the light would turn on! This was solved by splicing in a diode into the circuit. I actually used a bridge rectiifier from Radio Shack and took advantace of the 4 internal diodes, though I am only using one.

This is how I have my wiring set up. Thanks Randy for drawiing this for me! To retrurn to the prior page, click the back button on your browser.
