New Cuban Cock and His Favorite Hen
The hen has found a cool place to nest under an old wheelbarrow near our water ditch.  Not too far from our house.  She's very careful when it comes to going back to her nest. Today (3/21) is the big day!  She should hatch her chicks today.

They now have #4 babies.              

The Butcher Hen.  Her eggs kept getting vroke or eaten.  So, I have taken her out of the cage with the old rooster.    Not likely we will get any chicks from her.                                                             

This hen hatched 4 out of the twelve eggs she had.  As of this date she and her babies are all doing great.  April 2003

This hen had bad luck!  Two nights ago a coyote (I assume) took her off.  All I found were her feathers to leave the trail.  She had #7 babies, but all I found the next morning were six.  I have them in the house and they are happy and doing fine.  This is one of the hazards that awaits the chickens here.
