Cartecay UMC has been meeting in this area since 1834. The Original church was a mile from the current site and had burned to the ground, however the old church cemetery is still there. A new chuch was built at the corner of Hwy 52 East and Roy Road in October of 1859 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The newest structure was built in 1974. The church has served the community for over 150 years - slaves, Indians, and pioneers alike. We welcome all who enter our doors, regardless of your current affiliation or afflictions. Our prayer is that you find God in our midst and in turn that we become family.
We have a very active United Methodist Men's and Women's group and have recently started an evening circle for the women. Learn more in the church bulletin announcing the times and locations.
Our church family is actively working towards restoration of the old church that was built in 1859. If you are interested in seeing the old church become a public gathering place in the near future, come join us in this effort. Your talents, your donations, your time are most welcomed.
