“I can be on the next plane or boat.” Sam jumped to her feet.
“Wait aren’t you red flagged or something?” Cindy said. “Wont they like, blow up an airport your in or shoot a place up that has you?”
“Oh right.” Sam’s shoulders sagged. She slumped back to her chair. “I’m useless right now.”
“Not exactly. You said they were planning this attack? That means they are not ready yet. Besides they won’t do anything until your out of the way first.” Liza said. “So we have an advantage. If we can take out whomever is trying to kill you. Then we can get you to America safely.”
“So we get to kick terrorist butt?” Cindy asked.
“Oh no! You’re not doing anything. Liza and I will.” Sam said.
“Hey I brought you into this world, if anyone is taking you out of it, its me. You’re not fighting without me. I’m your mother for Christ sake. I’m coming with.”
“I am too.” Mallory said. Sue echoed her. Sam knew when she’d been beat. These three were the most stubborn of women and were not going to be persuaded out of it.
“Fine, but your going through training. Guns, knives, cars, running, jumping, climbing, and stealth.” Sam said. The others had a grim look on their faces, but nodded.
Bright and early the next morning Sam stood in front of three very eager women. Behind her was a table lined with various items. Sam was eyeing them carefully. She thought about which one to introduce to the ladies first. Her eyes fell on the Kevlar.
“Ok, the one and only thing that you never leave home without, no matter what, is your bullet proof vest. You can forget your phone, locator, keys, money, even your gun, but never your Kevlar.”
“I know how Kevlar works, there is no way you were wearing it on the roof. It doesn’t stop bullets like that.” Cindy said. Sam just smiled.
“It does if it is the Kevlar 4000. Specifically made for the user. It can stop anything, under armor piercing, dead in its tracks and leave hardly a bruise. It actually works better at closer range. Like an air bag, it absorbs upon impact. The harder the impact the bigger the cushion from the vest. You will all be measured for yours today.” She said moving down the line. She picked up a pair of sunglasses. “These are the Knights Eyes. They have reflective properties on the rims (to see behind you), night vision lenses, they can magnify like binoculars, record a twenty-minute video, and they block all forms of harmful UV rays. Any questions so far?” she asked.
Sues hand shot up “When do I get a gun?” Sam’s eyebrows shot up.
“You actually think I would arm you on your first day? I don’t trust you with a pop gun let alone a real one.” Sam said turning to her toys. “Next on the list would be your communicator.” She pulled a small clear rubber looking ball.
“You put this in your ear and you can hear things far away plus what ever anyone says to through this,” Sam pulled a small ring out. It looked almost like a class ring. “Which is your microphone.”
Cindy’s hand went up “so how does it magnify noises and work as a receiver?”
“Good question. See the gem in the ring? Push that in and point it at whatever you want to hear. It lasts for about six minutes, however you can keep pushing it in. Otherwise you just talk into it.” Sam turned back to the table. She frowned and picked up a small marble on a string necklace.
“This is the most dangerous thing you could possibly carry. You say the word napalm twice into your ring and then you leave the marble there and run as far as you can from that spot. Then say napalm twice more. The nearest allied base will launch the largest napalm strike within minutes. It is an agent’s last resort. Mainly because you will never get far enough away from the strike. If you know you will die anyway then go ahead and use it.” Sam put the necklace down.
“Why don’t you have one?” A deep voice asked. It was extremely Irish. Sam turned yelled “COLLIN!” and jumped into his arms. He was tall and built with fiery red hair. He scooped her up and spun her around.
