“Uh whatever you two have up your sleeves, it better be quick.” Sue said, “If this is anything like the movies, they’re gonna blow the door.” Sam looked up and sighed. Sue was right, they would use explosives on the door soon and they would be screwed.
“Liza the best bet we have is a drop to another building and wait for the pickup. It will spare us time.” Sam said. Liza rooted around in her bag and came out with what looked like a Batman gun. The one with the retractable rope in it.
“You actually have the gunner 2002? Why does everything come out first over here?” Sam pouted. Liza laughed and pointed the weapon to the only building lower then theirs. She let loose and the spike at the end of the rope blew through the concrete opened up and anchored itself. Liza reversed the gun and a similar anchor shot out of the butt of the gun into their roof. The gun now moved freely on the rope. Sam called everyone together and attached them all to the gun. The door blew open and Sam leapt off the side of the building. Sue, Mallory, and her mom screeched as they shot from one building to another. With a giant thud they were bashed against a wall. Sam squished under her mom and Sue.
“Ah get off me, I cant breath!” Sue yelled to Mallory.
“You cant! What about me!?” Sam yelled. Liza unhooked herself and climbed up to the roof. From the Hotel came shouts as the men discovered where they went.
“Fuck get your asses up there!” Sam yelled pushing as Liza pulled first Mallory then Sue up. Bullets rained down on them, and suddenly Sam and Cindy were free falling. Someone had cut the rope. Even Sam couldn’t help but scream as her stomach rolled into her throat. She scrambled for the safety stop on the gun’s handle and pushed it. The gun gripped the rope and they slowed to a stop.
“Oh shit oh shit oh shit…” her mom kept repeating. Sam gave a nervous giggle. She twisted and turned to find a toehold on the edge of the building. Her mom did the same. They were pressed against a window looking into an office. The lights were off inside and there was no way in.
“What do we do now?” Her mom asked looking first up then wobbly down. Sam grabbed and held her close to the building.
“Well to start, don’t look down.” But whatever else she would have said was cut out by gunfire as the men realized she was still alive. She tried to duck but quickly gave up on that. Where was she gonna go. She instead covered her mom as best she could.
“Don’t cover me, I’m supposed to protect you!” She yelled.
“But I’m the one wearing the bullet proof vest!” Sam yelled back.
“Touché”
“Just shut up and sit here.” Sam said as she was hit repeatedly in the back. She heard the distant thudding of a helicopter and smiled as her rescue approached.
“Can’t you shoot back?” Her mom asked.
“With what! I have no more ammo; I wasn’t expecting world war three to come out of fucking nowhere on the damn trip. I didn’t pack for an onslaught!” They heard Liza lay down cover fire as the chopper landed. They soon felt a tug on the rope as it was tied. Sam smiled and Liza dropped a gun over the edge to her. The helicopter rose again and this time, Sam was ready for the hotel roof. When they crested it she could see all the men. Her smile faded as she saw Michael. He saluted her and called his men off the roof. Sam and her friends rode into the moonlight. br>
Sam burst through some office doors and stormed up to a desk. The man behind it was Rafael Sebastian. He was the head of the European division. He had an amused look on his face.
“Are all Americans so bold as to just walk brazenly unannounced into the most dangerous mans office in Europe, or are you special?” He asked pompously. Sam tossed the desk across the room snatched him out of his seat and threw him through his glass window into the rest of the offices. She jumped through the hole picked him up and threw him through someone else’s window. She leapt through this one as well and snatched the now addled man up to his feet.
“Now you listen here mother fucker.” Sam said in a soft tone.
“I’m now the most dangerous person in Europe and when I say jump you lousy piece of shit, don’t ask how high just fucking do it!” she pulled a switch knife out and clicked it open.
“When I call for an extraction, I want one a hell of a lot faster than the one I got. I’m not used to waiting and I won’t wait again.” He nodded wide-eyed. Sam let him go and turned her back to him. She heard a gun clear a holster. Liza stepped up and shook her head at the man.
“Rafael she is not to be killed here, you know that.” Sam turned to see the shaken man holding his weapon at his side.
“I was not going to hurt her.” He tossed the gun at Sam’s feet. “How did you know you could just walk in here and do that unharmed?”
“I’m Samantha Parker. I fear no man. Death is just another challenge that I can partake. If you wish me dead then by all means go ahead kill me, but remember this. Death may be a trip, but if you’re not man enough to send me on it. I’ll punch your ticket for you.” She plopped down in one of the many chairs in the room. “Now let’s get down to business. I want to know why I was attacked on vacation, why they specifically want me dead, and why Michael Cain was on that damn roof.”
Cindy had just gapped at her daughter through all of this; she could not believe what she had just witnessed. This woman sitting in the chair was not the one she had raised. Then she thought about it and changed her mind. Her daughter was a lot like her. Cindy would have done the same thing. She watched as Sam talked with Raphael and Liza. Shaken she turned to Sue and Mallory.
“Am I the only one not ok with all of this?” She said to them. Mallory was pale with shock and just looked glossy eyed around her.
“Did you have any idea that Sam was an agent?” Sue asked.
“No, how could I, There weren’t any warning signs. No neon light above her head that said ‘I kill people for a living’. What else am I supposed to do ask her if she knows six different ways to break a neck?”
“Hey are you guys hungry?” Sam called to them. She was leaving the office now with Liza.
“Have you seen us? When are we not hungry.” Cindy said.
“Got any Krispy Kreme?” Sue asked.
