In the fifties,Alfa is commited to production line designs.The company has a twin objective:to intiate
assembly
line production and to capitalise on sporting success with a high performance product.It is
a period of intense
and blissful creativity.The 1900 finds solutions to satisfy a more demanding
market,the “squadron” of 159s is
invincible and wins the Wolrd Championship in1950 and 1951.One
of the 1900 that many people in Italy still
remember is the police “panther” with the distinctive black
lively,supplied by Alfa from 1953 to the “Fliying
Squads” of the main Italian police headquaters.But
the company’s real jewel in the crowns is the Giulietta
Sprint.In these years a trend develops that
is to continue into the future;the collaboration between interior
company study centres and externals
bodyworks stylist.Cars continue to be procuced promoting the
“made in Italy” image.The Alfa styles
sets the standards;alongside production cars,limited editions or one-off
models are also produced,
created by famous styilists.In 1958,Alfa Romeo comes to an agreement with Renault to
build the
“Dauphine” saloon.
