Robots

This movie was just fun. Plain and simple. I don’t really even have much to write about it, and since I’m not really a professional movie reviewer, I have the option to not do so. However, since I do have some readers out there who are interested in what I have to say, I’ll make a couple of brief notes. First of all, the casting was really nicely done, from Ewan McGregor to Robin Williams to Halle Berry to Greg Kinnear as the villain and even Amanda Bynes as Williams’ little sister. The visual effects were outstanding, most notably in a scene in which McGregor and Williams’ characters travel across Robot City in a caged ball which is launched through high-flying series of contraptions.

In terms of story, there’s really not much new. It’s the tale of a young robot who sets out for the big city with the hopes of improving the living condition of his parents, and in the process hopefully meeting his idle. From there, various characters come into play as we see that his idle has been ousted from power, and the new man in charge aims to yank every penny from the struggling public. Hilarity ensues as our young hero tries to save the day. All pretty standard, but it is truly dazzling to watch. The site gags are nicely done, as we get to see how our modern world would be if it were run by robots (robot animals, hydrants, the robot dance?). This is definitely a film for the kids, so if you’ve got them do not hesitate to bring them here. It’ll be worth it not only for them, but for the adults as well. Like I said: this movie is just plain fun.
