Must Love Dogs

Once again, I’ve waited far too long to write this review, so the film’s not exactly fresh in the brain. Therefore, don’t expect me to get too detailed here like I do sometimes.

All in all, this was just an enjoyable “check-you-problems-at-the-door” film. One of those movies that you just go to, site down and enjoy. Sure, it’s predictable as all hell, and it’s full of rom-com clichés, but when such things are done right, it can be really enjoyable. Such is the case here. John Cusack is the man. Here, he kind of brings back a little bit of his Lloyd Dobbler flair (though, I certainly don’t want to imply that this film is anywhere near the amazing level of Say Anything). He just oozes that goofy, nervous, babbling charm. He can pull off quick witted and jittery at the same time like nobody else. It’s really a pleasure to watch. I could just watch him interact with people in that type of character for hours. Great stuff.

Diane Lane fills her role admirably. Nothing really of note, but really the film is to be seen for Cusack. So, if you’re looking to hit the flick and just want something that will take you away from all of your troubles for an hour and a half, this is your flick. Also, great for a date. ;-)
