MOVIE AND CD OF THE MONTH: May 2005!!!

Movie of the Month: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Yes yes yes. Go figure. Thus far I've seen this flick three times and it gets to me just a little more on each go around. I figure I'll see it one more time when I finally get around to my annual "two movies in one day" celebration of summer. Once again there just wasn't the caliber of films out that I look for when selecting the two films upon my release from school, so like last year I've had to hold off. Luckily the flick I've been holding out for is coming out tomorrow, Batman Begins. So, I'll be seeing that one hopefully on Thursday and then sometime next week or the week after I'll finally get to do my thing. For those of you who haven't seen Revenge of the Sith yet, do so now. This is cinema history and it demands to be experienced on the big screen. Whether you're a hardcore Star Wars fan or just a casual viewer, heck even those of you who've never seen one of the films before probably knows enough of the story to get what's happening, just go see it! You'll thank me later.

CD of the Month: Revenge of the Sith Soundtrack
I think one of the saddest aspects of the Star Wars saga coming to an end is the fact that we have will have no more new Star Wars music from John Williams. What he has done with this series is nothing short of genius. His music from the original trilogy is ingrained in our culture, our children all recognize melodies such as the main theme and the Imperial March. Expectations were high coming into the prequel trilogy, but not only did he match them, he exceeded them, adding to the mythos such instant classics as Duel of the Fates, the gorgeous love theme Across the Stars, and much much more. There are very few movie themes which everyone knows considering the vast amount of movies which have been made, and I must say the vast majority of those which we all recognize were composed by John Williams. The only non-Williams scores which immediately come to mind which have an arguably similar impact are Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings scores. With the rumors of a live-action television show coming within the next two or three years, here's hoping for some memorable music to accompany it.
