- Remove all pre-existing intake items and place the computer out of the way, you'll mount that later.
- Jack the car up, and remove the drivers side tire. This is the easiest way to do the actual placement of the cone. In the future if you want to clean and oil the cone you can just take out the plastic from the fenderwall, and riggle the cone loose.
- Remove the black plastic from the wheel well. There will be five screws around the outside, and underneath.
- Connect the 3" rubber coupler (Or F-Duct) to the TB and the 3" PVC to the other side, and feed it to the triangle opening in your engine bay where your old CAI was.
- If you look into your wheel well now, after removing your tire, and plastic wheel well shell, you should be able to see into your engine bay, through the little triangle in the fenderwall in the engine bay, where your old CAI drew air through. You'll notice a brace in the way though. Simply unbolt the one 10mm bolt, closest to the engine (See pictures), and push the brace out of the way.
- Connect the PVC elbows firmly and fit the linked PVC elbows together between where the brace was previously bolted, it takes some strength. It's a tight squeeze, but the unbolted brace acts like a safety net and hold the PVC in place.
- Connect your cone to the end of the PVC and make sure it fits in the wheel well, you can use the over hang from the body to be the judge, it should rest snuggly on that. It will be perpendicular to the ground, and a tight fit, but it will work.
- Connect the 3" PVC to the PVC elbow that is now sticking out slightly into your engine bay, from the fenderwall.
- Make sure everything is tightend well, and put the wheel well plastic back in, and the tire back on.
- To mount the PCM, you can either purchase the Motorsports Performance Poly PCM tray (as I did), or you can simply ziptie it to the engine bay.
- Refer to the first method for the steps to prepare the car to install the intake.
- Slide the Air Duct into the '99+ F-duct, this will be VERY difficult with the 3.5", but it WILL go in, so just stick with it and keep pushing!
- Attach the F-Duct to the TB and route the intake duct through the triangle.
- Once in the wheelwell, you will need to cut the air ducting to the length desired. I cut it so that the filter would rest on the bottom of the plastic wheel well.
- Next, connect the filter to the intake ducting. In my case, it was neccessary to add a small piece of 3" PVC as a solid item to hose clamp both sides to.
Click the picture below to see the end result; in my opinion, the black intake ducting looks much cleaner than the PVC setup I previously had.
