GOALKEEPERS

David James

England’s Number one joined the hammers from Aston Villa for 3.25 million pounds under Glenn Roeder. He had previously played with Liverpool and Watford and is rated very highly by the new England boss Sven Goran Eriksson. However things haven't always been cushdy for 'Jamo'. Computer game addictions troubled the 6''5 friendly giant, and some blamed this for bad form whilst at Liverpool earning him the nickname 'Calamity James' after the Beano comic star. But with his 'illness' behind him he still continues to prove a great player between the sticks

Stephen Bywater

Young Stephen Bywater was picked up from Rochdale when he was a trainee. Since then, although he has only made a few appearances for the first team, he has claimed the rightful position of West Ham number 2 to David James. Tipped by many to be a future England star, Stephen is a regular member of the West Ham bench and also for the England Under 21's.
