Learn how to change your "Start" button text in windows Xp. (And side mods. )

Examples below .

( Left - Dont click me) ( Middle - Uncle) ( Right - blank )

You must download Resource Hacker in order for this to work.

Always... I repeat always make a backup of Explorer if you do this.

Plus I am not respnsible If you Fuck up your own computer.

---

Let's start by making 2 backups of Explorer. Name one Explorer.copy and the other Explorer.bak.

The Explorer file will be located in the C:\Windows directory. Place the 2 backups of Explorer you made in a directory that you will remember. ( I usually keep mine in the same directory as Explorer.exe. )

Open your Resource Hacker Program and move your cursor to the File option in the navigation. Click on File > Open and search for the Explorer.copy backup that you made. Press Ctrl+F to open the find text box.

Type in the word "start" no quotes. It should come up like this ( 578, "start" ). Change the text to what ever you would like. Then click on the compile button. Next hit F3 to search for the same string, it should come up like this ( 595, "start" ).

Again, change the text to what ever you would like and click compile. After all is completed and compiled, click on File > Save.

Exit Resource Hacker and restart your computer.

Now when your computer reboots you need to boot into Safe mode Command Prompt. You can do this by Pressing F8 on start up. Now most computers are different, some will boot to a blue box asking what device to boot into.

If you get this, just press Enter and then press F8 again, if you get a single option press F8 again till you get a list of more options. When you get to the list of options, select "Safe Mode Command Prompt."

Log in as Administrator. After logged in, you should be brought to the command prompt saying ( Example: "C:\documents and settings\user" ), if you get this type without quotes "cd..", do that twice till you get to C:\ prompt.

When at C:\ type withought quotes "cd windows" to get to the Windows directory. Next type with no quotes "ren explorer.exe explorer.old". Then type with no quotes "ren explorer.copy.exe explorer.exe". When that is completed type with no quotes

"EXIT" to exit the prompt, then hit Ctrl+Alt+Del once. Click on the Shutdown option from the navigation menu and click Restart. and you are all set. You have officially changed your "start" button text.

Now when you wanna change the name of the other buttons in the start menu, do the same thing as the instructions say except search for the text you are wanting to change.
