Chapter 45

Nick pulled into a shaded parking spot and climbed out of the car, walking around to help Fiona out as well.

"Don’t you ever use the door?" Fiona laughed.

"I like the Dukes of Hazzard approach to exiting my car" Nick said with a wink. "I only use the door when it’s raining or when I’m helping a beautiful lady out of my car."

"You are full of it, Carter! Ya know?"

Smiling, Nick said, "I’ve been told that by a few people, but I don’t pay them any attention. I just like to be a free spirit."

Fiona shook her head and allowed him to hold her hand as they walked towards a large tree that shaded the ground beneath. Nick handed her the picnic basket while he spread out the blanket he had brought with him. Once he had it laid out and straightened, he took the basket and sat it on the far corner of the blanket before helping Fiona down gently.

"Is this spot okay with you?" he asked.

"It’s perfect, Nick. I didn’t know this park existed" Fiona said as she glanced around the area.

There was a small family to their left, far enough away that they wouldn’t be able to recognize Nick even if they knew who he was and two elderly gentlemen fishing a little farther to the right of them. The wind was light and Fiona felt completely relaxed while Nick began un-packing the contents of the basket.

"I hope you like ham" he said as he brought out two huge double decker sandwiches.

"Good lord, Nick. I can’t eat that thing, it’s monstrous!" Fiona laughed.

Nick chuckled. "Sure you can, Fi. It’s not that big."

"Yeah right. Do you have a knife to cut it in half?"

He picked up the utensils he had placed in the top portion of the basket and grinned, his smile blinding her. "See, I thought of everything."

Fiona smiled back. "You sure did."

The two of them ate the lunch Nick had packed and managed to carry on a light but playful conversation the entire time. They found that their sense of humor was much alike and they had many of the same interests. After they finished eating, Fiona helped Nick pack the leftovers and trash into the picnic basket and she leaned against the tree, completely satisfied.

"I could take a nap," she said as she closed her eyes. "But this tree is really hard!"

Suddenly she felt Nick’s hands on her shoulders, pulling her forward. She quickly opened her eyes to find that he was staring at her, his blue eyes piercing her soul.

"Fiona" he said.

"Yes Nick?"

"I’m sorry about the other day in the shower. I was very forward with you and I shouldn’t have been."

Fiona flushed, remembering how his lips had caressed hers sensually and the way he had guided her hand to his growing erection. "It’s...um...it’s okay, Nick."

He shook his head, never taking his eyes off of hers. "No, it’s not okay. I won’t deny that I wanted you, hell, I STILL want you. But I went about it in the wrong way. I need to show you that I am not all about the sex, I do have a romantic side."

Fiona touched his face lovingly, her hand resting along his cheek and her thumb tracing his bottom lip. "Nick, I know that. This picnic was a perfect example."

"But I still want to make love to you, right here, right now. I can’t help it and that’s wrong!"

"It’s not wrong, Nick. It’s natural to want to make love to someone that you desire."

"Do you desire me?" he asked innocently.

Fiona leaned closer, her lips just inches from his, her hand moving from his face to bury itself in his thick blonde hair. "More than you could ever imagine."

A soft growl escaped his throat as Fiona stared at him, licking her lips in anticipation of his mouth on hers, their tongues dancing erotically together.

Slowly, Nick wrapped his thick muscular arms around her and pulled her flush against his chest, his lips descending sweetly upon hers in a tender kiss. His tongue pushed gently against her mouth, begging for entrance as Fiona sank against him. His kiss was erotic and sensual, his breath sweet and his lips soft and full.

As the kiss ended, he glanced down to see a smile upon her face, her eyes still shut.

"You okay?" he asked with a smirk.

"NO" she mumbled.

"Anything I can do to help?"

"Kiss me again" she said as she opened her eyes and pulled him down on top of her.

As Nick kissed her once again, he laid her gently against the blanket and covered the top half of her torso with his own, one hand helping him hover just enough to keep from crushing her and the other hand roaming the area between her shoulder and her hips.

Fiona had one hand wrapped in his silky hair and the other caressed his back, underneath his tank top, relishing the soft warm skin beneath her fingertips. She moaned as his lips began trailing kisses from her earlobe down her neck and onto her shoulders, his tongue darting over the sensitive areas in between.

"We are gonna get thrown out of this park and arrested if we don’t stop" she said breathlessly.

Propping himself up on one elbow, he sighed. "You’re right. But I can’t help it. You drive me crazy!"

"The feeling is mutual" she sighed.

"Come here baby, let me hold you" he said pulling her against him as he laid out flat along the blanket. "If I can’t make love to you, or TEASE you, I can at least hold you against me."

The two of them lay silent until they drifted off to sleep.
