Phoenix Company

Phoenix Company is a non-profit group of military enthusiasts located in Lubbock, Texas who participate in MILSIMS or military simulations using Airsoft weaponry. Airsoft guns are 1:1 scale replicas of current or past issue military rifles, pistols, machine guns, sub-machine guns and even grenade launchers which fire 6mm plastic BB ammunition. Phoenix Company centers its MILSIM games around small unit tactics and squad based game play. Study of current military warfare, operations and special forces units allows us to let our members become weekend warriors and live out their fantasies of “playing army” in a safe and controlled environment.
The organization of Phoenix Company is much like that of the US Army, we have our own rank system, and groups of plyers are formed into squads and fire teams. Members of each team might have specific combat specialties such EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), Scout/Recon , Sniper, Engineer, CQB or Assault. What ever a team members duties might be he is part of a team and team work and cooperation is what Phoenix Company stresses the most. While our focus is military simulation the true goal is to have fun! Since military combat operations and simulations are what we are all about prospective players are encouraged to read the Equipment Standards, Rules of Engagement and Conduct, and the Safety chapters of this website.

Becoming a Member of Phoenix Company

Prospective members must be at least 18 years of age or have a waiver signed by a parent if you are no younger than 15. 15 years of age is the minimum age a player can be do to the responsibilities and dangerous nature that carrying real life replicas of military hardware can present.

A prospective member must also have at least a sidearm to play. This means at least a pistol. Common entry level pistols are Springers. Springers are single shot replicas of semi-auto pistols used by military forces. Good examples are the SIG or Beretta. Currently Phoenix Company members are based in the world of spring loaded Airsoft guns. These are cheaper single shot versions of their military counter parts. More expensive AEG or Air Electric Guns, might be experimented with later but for now springers are what we use. Springers come in a variety of styles from the MP5 A5 SMG to the M16A2. There is a springer replica available for just about every current military firearm. More on this in the equipment standards section.

Prospective members must have a set of camo BDU’s or Battle Dress Uniform fatigues to wear while playing in any scenario.

Prospective members should have some appreciation of modern military actions. Understanding and knowledge of how, where, when and why the military works is not a must. After all this is supposed to be a fun learning hobby. We encourage active and retired military/police personnel to participate. What better way to learn than from one of Americas Finest! Anyone who has a problem taking orders, being part of a team, dressing up like Special Forces operatives, crawling around in the mud and dirt, being outdoors during the rain, being shot at (with air guns of course!), shooting at people(with air guns of course!) and generally playing army and having a blast should not read any further. If you have ever wanted to know what it feels like to lead a night raid into enemy territory, perform an ambush on a secluded wooded trail, execute a hostage rescue against terrorists....you get the idea, then this is the thing for you! It is as inexpensive or as expensive as you make it and it is a lot of fun!
