Oil Text Tutorial

 

 

1. Make a new layer start off with this size and once you get use to making it then try another size.

 

2. Type in some text using the Type Tool and make sure the text is near the middle.

 

3. Combine the two layers together by linking them and then press Ctrl + E then it should look like the second image above.

 

4. After you have it combine go to Image/Rotate Canvas and then to 90 degrees CW (clockwise)

 

5. Then go to Filter/Stylize/Wind

6. Make sure your Method and Direction is the same as the image above then press OK

 

7. Then repeat the filter by going to Filter and Wind at the very top or simply press Ctrl+F

8. Now you need to Solarize the text go to Filter/Stylize/Solarize.

 

9. Need to make it horizontal again so go to Image/Rotate Canvas and then choose 90 degrees Counter-Clockwise.

 

10. Go to Image/Mode and then choose Grayscale.

 

11. If you get a warning like this just press OK.

 

12. Then go to Image/Mode and choose Indexed Color this time.

13. It may have seem that nothing had happen but it did but go to Image Mode and Color Table.

 

14. Change the table to Black Body and then press OK.

 

15. Now it's starting to look good but still need more detail. Go to Image/Adjust and then choose Hue/Saturation.

 

16. Make your settings look like the image above.

 

17. It is done but for better resolution change it back to RGB Color go to Image/Mode and then RGB Color

18. DONE! Should look something like this!
