Andrew's 4-Wheeler Site

LoneStar Racing - ATV and Quad Accessories - Lone Star Racing
Thanks for visiting my site, I don't really know all that much about making sites so just bare with me, maybe I'll get the hang of it pretty soon.

My 1991 Honda 300 4x4 has these modifications on it:

-24-8-11 and 25-10-11 Titan 589s

-11" Douglas .190 Rims

-Whitebrothers E-Series Exhaust Pipe

-Custom Jetting

-Uni Filter

-Warn 2.5lb. Winch

-Highlifter "Wide Open" Shocks(Front)

-Progressive 512 Shock (Rear)

-Moose CV Boot Guards

-Moose Floorboards

-Honda Skidplate

-Moose Handguards

-Highlifter Gel Grips

-Snorkel

-Black Plastic

-Silver Frame

Instead of buying the whole jet kit and spending like $60+ on it and getting a lot of jets i didn't even need, I took T Rex 300's advice and just spent $10 on the jets i needed; I bought them from Dynojet since my dealer didn't have them. This is the way i would suggest doing it to anyone wanting to rejet their machine. I also bought the Uni Filter to go along with the jets and the pipe, I had heard to many bad things about the K&N to buy it. I use the Honda filter oil on it because it is dyed and you can see where you have and haven't oiled it.

The Wide Open Shocks and the rear Progressive 512 Shock is great. Both the Highlifter Wide Open Shocks and the Progressive 512 Shock is great, they feel great, they don't bottom out like the old stockers did and they both are 5 position adjustable and give around 1.5"s of extra ground clearance. When I ordered the Wide Open Shocks they were suppose to be for all 300s, but, unknown to me, they weren't, there was an error on the Highlifter site and the shocks were only suppose to be for 92+ 300s, I talked to Jeff at Highlifter and he said I could send them back, but I just decided to grind of the excess mount on the shock to make it fit. I also ordered the Progressive Shock and only had to dremel off a little bit of the shock mount on the shock. The shocks gave me about an inch to an inch and a half of lift in the front, and about the same in the rear, so I have as much ground clearance now as to if I had bought a lift kit. It gave the 4-wheeler a completely different look and it looks a lot more aggressive now.

I got my Warn 2.5lb. Winch down at my dealer for $310, but the drawback to it is I have to make my own mounting plate for it. I have already began the fabrication of it and I should have specs up of it soon, for all of you wanting to make your own mounting plates for your older 300s. By the way, I'm mounting it in the frame in the front, I have made just enough room for it to fit.

The 589s are great all-around tires. Even though they are a mud tire, they are still exeptionally smooth on hardpack, and they are GREAT in the mud; they pull me through the thick slimy stuff just like my old Vampires did. If you are looking into buying new set of tires soon, go with the 589s, I really don't think you would be disappointed with them. And the Douglas Wheels are great, they are almost the strongest wheels offered so I know they're not going to ever bend or break with me, and they are also very shiny, I am always getting compliments about them. If you are looking into buying some rims any time soon, go with the Douglas Rims.

If you are looking into buying a new exhaust pipe, then I strongly suggest the Whitebrothers E-Series Pipe, it gives a really nice low to middle end power increase, and it sounds like a Harley going through the woods. It uses the disc system which means you can control the air flow of the pipe by just taking off or putting on some discs. The fewer the discs, the more low end power, and the more discs, the more top end power; I have found that running 10-12 discs on my 300 gives the best power throughout the powerband. An added bonus to the Whitebrothers Pipe is that it is aluminum, not steel, so it caan't rust like a stock pipe can, which I think this is a GREAT bunus to this pipe.

The Moose CV Guards and Skid Plate has made a difference many times as to if I ride or walk home, you just don't know how much you need the two until you actually break your front axle or CV, or do something to your engine.

The Moose Handguards have made more of a difference in my riding style than I would have ever expected. Every tree limb that use to hit my hands just bounces off the guards now. I don't have the scratches and cuts on my hands anymore from the briars and limbs.

I Recently tore the whole bike apart to paint the bike over again; Heres a list of what all I did to it:

ALL Plastics: Black

Frame: Silver

A-Arms: Silver

Swingarm: Silver

Handlebars: Silver

Gas Tank: Black

Floorboards: Black

CV Guards: Black

Steering Stem: Silver

Bars: Silver

Front Bumper: Black

Differentials: Silver

Rear Brake Backing Plate: Silver

Rear Tow Hitch: Silver

Rear Axle Housing: Black

Rear Brake Dust Guard: Black

Front Knuckles: Silver

I also painted my engine silver and painted the head black. I also added a Snorkel and changed my jetting a little. And I added that Honda Wing on the Gas Tank, I love that. I decided to try out these Highlifter Gel Grips I had heard of for so long; now I see what all the talk was, these things are COMFY! I went ahead and wired up my winch so all I have to do it connect the 2 front wires to my winch when I get the mount made. I started this project at the end of September and ended the end of November, so it took around 2 months to complete this project. I used Krylon Fusion Plastic paint on the plastic; and Dupli-Color Silver Wheel Paint on the silver parts. I covered all the silver paint with Dupli-Color Car Clearcoat to make it much more durable and more shiny. On the gas tank I used Dupli-Color black Car Paint along with a clearcoat. On the engine I used Dupli-Color Engine Enamel along with an engine clearcoat.

I hope this list of all my modifications has helped you all a little bit with what you may want to buy in the future. If any of you need any pointers or help, just E-Mail me. By the way, my future modifications are as follows: Highlifter Piston/Cam Package .20 over, Highlifter Outlaw Clutch Kit, 2 27-12.50-11 Tri Claw Magnums, 2 26-9.50-11 Vampires, 4 WideTrac 1.5" Spacers, and a Moose Front Grille. I hope to have all of this by the end of this upcoming summer; it should really be Bad-to-the-Bone then.
