Ezekiel 33:1-9 talks about the duties of the watchman. As I read it I realized we, as Christians are also watchmen.
“When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.” (v8) Here God is telling Ezekiel (the watchman described in v 1-9) that if God wants to warn ppl of there wrongs and what it means for their future and if he doesn’t, then not only will those ppl keep going on with their sinful ways, but Ezekiel will be accountable for all bad that happens to them. In the same way, we Christians are held accountable for those we know God has told us to witness to but chose not to. We must warn ppl of what will happen if they keep doing what they are doing now. We must witness to nonchristians. In doing so Ezekiel 33:9 says, “But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die of his sins, but you will have saved yourself.” As Christians, we are given many responsibilities and it’s important we hold up to them. This is one of them. I encourage you to read Ezekiel 33:1-9 and pray about what you read. Ask God to show you what he wants you to do and ask for help in following through with it. |
