W Because of the complex wing  design of the HORTEN PROJECTS planned  Ho229 1/8 scale flying wing several well known foam wing cutting services have declined our offer for the contract. The HORTEN TEAM PROJECT director has sent out several more sets of the projects plans  to some new contacts in the foam cutting business with the hope of gaining a service to cut this complex wing design.  The cutting of a foam wing is vital to project and is one of the Projects major goals. The idea is and always has been to produce a light weight easy to assembly HORTEN HO 229 kit.  The complex wing design that is planned to be cut of foam is just one of several modifications that the design team has  for one of its long term goals of the project.

As the results from the inquires come back news will be posted.

W I have been in contact with Brian Eberware from Laser Arts the company that we have chosen to cut the kits from our plans. Brian and myself have been working together to iron out a few of the problems encountered in the design of the planned prototype based on  the plans we of the project team have. I have to reiterate to everyone that this is a very complex design and several changes will probably be have to made to the prototypes as we go along. Brian has been in contact with someone who he says is willing to take on the job of designing the wings and cut them for us out of foam. I will post the details as soon as I get them.

GREAT NEWS
May 24, 2004
I have been in contact with Brian Eberware of Laser arts and have negotiated the contract for the transfer from plans to cnc code as well as the cutting of the kits. I have decided to have four kits cut for the Horten Team Project at this time, as time goes on and the need arises for more I will have them cut and sent to us. Brian and myself  have settled on the price and decided upon a very good cost figure. The money was sent and the expected delivery time of the kits is expected in two to three weeks. Some minor changes were made to the plans and these will be noted upon separate sheets of paper. When the kits arrive I will make some preliminary checks before sending them out and  take some pictures for the before and after records of the project,
