  • The History Behind My Honda

    In the Beginning

This picture of my car is a rather recent one. In the beginning, my car was just a regular Honda with everything on it stock. I started paying for it in 2001. It was my first car and I was excited about getting it. At first, I didn't want to do anything different to my car, but I eventually got tired of being like everyone else. And then, The Fast and The Furious came out. The movie helped to generate a slew of aftermarket upgrades for my car, but the prices of these items was outrageous. I was discouraged by all the high prices, but worked little by little to get my car to where it is today. And I still have a long way to go.

    Exterior

The first aftermarket item to go onto my car was a fiberglass wing. It was just like the blue Honda's wing in Gone in 60 Seconds. Then I purchased different tail lights to give my car a sportier look. After that came my fiberglass bodykit that was ordered through Extreme Machines. It was a hassle to put on because it had no predrilled holes, had cracks and pits in it, and it wasn't molded to fit perfectly. Later on I purchased clear corner lights, windshield washer LED lights, a different exhaust, and a different wing for my car.

    Interior

As far as the interior is concerned, the first item purchased to enhance it was 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs and a box, along with a Sony Xplod 760 watt amp. At the time, I was running the system with the factory headunit. Since then, I have upgraded to 2 12" Audiobahn subs and a custom wood and plexiglass, bandpass enclosure. The RMS of the subs is 800 watts, but I am still using my 760 watt amp for the time being. I ran a 4 gauge power wire by Tsunami to replace the 8 guage wire previously installed. I upgraded the factory headunit to an Alpine 60x4 CD player with tilting face. Sony Xplod 6x9s and 6 1/2s handle the midrange. All of the bass pounding made stuff rattle and vibrate though. So I took out the seats and carpet and put down 1/2 inch pressed foam to help absorb the bass. It helped a lot, but I plan to eventually Dynamat my whole interior. The only problem is that I can't find a large enough kit. My most recent install was The Informer Series Prestige alarm system by Audiovox. I purchased it at Circuit City and had them install it. It is a top of the line alarm system and has many features such as: glass break sensor, proximity sensor, remote start, backup battery, LCD transceiver, shock sensor, starter disable, and vehicle interior temperature indicator. (In case you can't tell, I really like it)

    Current and Future Mods

I am currently painting various interior pieces red to match my exterior. So far I have the vents, dash pod, center console, lower dash panel, and passenger side center door panel painted. I am also fiberglassing the rear panel that holds my Sony Xplod 6x9s, so that I can paint it. I removed the brake light in the rear glass too. I'm working on fabricating a center console that will house larger cup holders, an armrest, and a place for a 7" LCD TV monitor. The new console will replace the old console that has small cup holders, the E-brake, and the bottom dash panel that has the cigarette lighter, ash tray, and change tray. The E-brake will be relocated to underneath the steering wheel (like the ones in pickup trucks). Major works in progress (in no particular order) include: new engine (Spoon V-TEC ~300hp), new transmission, 17" rims, projection headlights, 7" LCD TV monitor, Audiobahn 1400 watt amp, upgraded altenator, vertical opening doors, window tint, and a Greddy full catback exhaust.
