Tradeskill Farming

Farming for Tailors:

Pelts and silks for under 20th season tailors are easiest obtained in Everfrost. A great abundance of spiderlings, wolves and bears with easy access to a bank and merchants. Also sometimes can find these items on merchants near entrance, as younger folks do not know their worth. Also Shadeweavers Thicket for hopper hides of all qualities, and shadeling silks from Xakra worms and lesser Shades. Shades also drop swirling shadows, Highly desired by smiths and therefore good to sell in Bazaar. Innothule swamp is an excellent place to farm Spiderling silks as well.

For those in hi teens and up, easiest is Karanas, especially North Karanas. Lions drop many times more than one pelt, also Highland Lions rarely drop HQ Lion, worth several hundred plat in bazaar. In between cats kill will-o-wisps for Greater Lightstones and Griffons for feathers and blood. Griffon feathers and blood sell well in bazaar and Lightstones can be turned into a gypsy in the camp for a book that sells to another merchant for 9plat. Watch out for named Griffons, they are a pain in the arse. For rockhopper hides, head to Marus Seru in the 20's. More rockhoppers but watch out for Zelniaks, wide aggro range. A group is recommended as just about everything here is social and will assist whatever you are bashing. For Spider silks when you are 20ish Head to Guk, the Heart spiders drop loads of spider silks, occaisional gems and some nice armor every blue moon. Group recommended.

For those 30 and up and into Tailoring, Crystalline silks drop off spiders in Crystal Caverns. Excellent cash and experience here, as well as nice armor drops. A group is HIGHLY recommended for anyone under 45. Those spiders hit HARD. For hides you will need to hit Dawnshroud Peaks and the rockhopper caves. AGAIN get a group. Another area where things have a wide aggro range and are social. Higher seasons folks can head to Everfrost again if you need spider silks. There is a 5 or 6 static spawn of GIGANTIC spiders to beat up for silks and occaisional rare meat drops. (Barbarian parts used for illusion potions by Shamans.)

Farming for smiths:

Any area that has things that drop rusty weapons are a good place to start smithing. Again I recommend Everfrost. Most skeletons are wandering around with a weapon, and Blackburrow has tons of Gnolls who are just dying to give up those rusties. Many times you can wander around and loot them off corpses, since they get heavy fast and most dont want to be bothered. Rusty weapons can be sharpened and then turned into ore for smithing. Using rusty weapons is the cheap and easy way to get your smithing skills up to 100. When you have hit the point of needing HQ ore DONT BUY IT FARM IT. Any Fine Steel weapon can easily be converted into HQ ore for smithing. Best place for 30ish, Splitpaw Lair. Lots of things to kill and fairly regular drops of FS weapons. If you are lower level and need HQ ore, head to the Permafrost entrance where the Ice Giants camps are. These are always camped since they drop a TON of cash and FS weapons. Ask politely and most folks camped there will sell you their FS weapons for 4 to 5 plat a piece. Not as desireable as farming them yourself, but it does save a lot of cash. There are a few other areas of various seasons that mobs drop FS weapons, do some reasearch and pick the best one for your season. For those who are using Acrylia for either smithing or tailoring, Grimling Forest and Tenebrous Mountains have loads of Grimlings carrying loads of Acrylia. Even if you dont plan on using it yourself, Acrylia is a great way to earn fast cash since it sells well in the bazaar. If you are up to the point of needing Velium, Crystal Caverns is the place for you season 30-45. Lower levels need a group. If you are too hi to beat the TLC, you will need to go to Velketors in Great Divide. Spiders drop Velium and silks. Group recommended.

Farming for Pottery:

Gorge of King Xorbb, over by West Karanas. Muddites drop lots and lots of clay in all shapes and sizes. They also drop ore so its possible to do farming for 2 skills here. Downside...long ass run if you cant port, no banks nearby. If you are 30ish, you can also camp the evil eyes for gemstones, agate jasper turquoise and the like very very common drops off Eyes. As a side note, unless you are going to use a pottery item, dont bother firing them. Firing does not raise your skill ability, fired items dont sell to merchants for much, you will lose money that way. Farming Muddites is the best way to do pottery for cheap. With the cash dropped you wont have to pay anything from your bank to get to 130ish and more.

So thats what I have discovered for those tradeskills. Hope it helps some crafters out there. Probably a few good hunt spots I left out so feel free to add to it. Also, good idea to be pals with a mage who can summon those big weightless bags. Just dont forget to empty them before you camp!! Good hunting and happy skilling.
