The
Word
Does your walk with God seem overly difficult? Is there sin in your life that you just can’t seem to beat? Do you find it difficult to spend time alone with God? Do your quiet times seem distant and inconsistent? Does your Christian walk seem to fluctuate drastically? Is your life joyless?
It has been my
experience that most Christians will
say yes to one or more of these questions most any day of their lives. The more I grow in my walk with the Lord,
the more I am convinced that these feelings of inadequacy, spiritual weakness,
complacency and spiritual dryness, can
be harshly attacked when a person spends significant time hiding God’s word in
his/her heart. Psalm 119 says:
“How blessed are
those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 How blessed are those who
observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. 3 They also
do no unrighteousness; They walk in His ways. 4 Thou hast ordained Thy
precepts, That we should keep them diligently. 5 Oh that my ways may be
established To keep Thy statutes! 6
Then I shall not be ashamed
When
I look upon all Thy commandments. 7 I
shall give thanks to Thee with uprightness of heart, When I learn Thy righteous
judgments. 8 I shall keep Thy statutes; Do not forsake me utterly!”
I encourage you today to spend some real time in God’s
Word. Meditate on and memorize verse
29 of this chapter today: “Remove the
false way from me,
And graciously grant me Thy law.” Make this verse your prayer as you go through this day.
