First off, did you ever notice that when one kind of style/singer gets famous all of a sudden there is like 500 of them? Take Britney Spears, she got popular, then all of a sudden there was a million look a likes that all sang the same profoundly bullshit music that floods the radio waves.
Secondly and by far the worst of them all is taking a world issue and singing about it. How fucking dumb is this? At my work we listen to a lot of country and after Sep. 11th I heard so many patriotic bullshit songs on the radio. Its like come on that is truly sad that you have no musical talent, and that you have to use something like that to get mindless people to blow $15 on your "patriotic" cd with 14 other songs about garbage no one cares about.
I listen to a lot of rap. It always seems that a rap artist needs to have at least 3 songs about where they are from and 4 songs about how bad their "crew" is and how they will fuck you up if they mess with them. Take 50cent for example. Nick brought his cd along one night on furniture deliveries. I swear every song was about how he's a gangster, pimp, killer, and all around coolest guy alive. Is that why the media had to push him onto the radios and stick him everywhere they could just to get his name out there. He came along with the the media's need to force him down your throat. Listen to Afroman. He writes about anything and everything.
Is this really what we have to look forward to? There are not many bands I give credit to anymore. Not enough bands do drugs anymore. I think that's what the problem is. Look at Dark Side of the Moon and how long that stayed on the charts. Every song on the CD is good. It's almost impossible to pick up a CD and like the whole thing now. Its usually the one single that gets played 30 times a day and 11 other tracks that sound close to it. So everyone out there get a 1/8 of nuggs and a 1/4 of shrooms and a little acid too if you want and just start writing, or dress up like Avril and give Kiss FM a call.
