When plans for a weekend ride to a couple of MTF Ride-to-Eat functions had to be cancelled, I decided to make a one day run through the mountains. I took the super slab to Newport, TN, and then headed back to NC via US 25. From there, I went south on NC 209 into Waynesville, NC, West on US 74 to US 28, and from US 28 I took NC 143 accross the mountains into Robbinsville, NC. From there I took the Cherohala Skyway over to Telico Plains, TN and from there I went south on TN 68 into Georgia, then south and east on GA 68 to Suches. From Suches, I "ran with the wolf" (over Wolf Pen Gap Road) on GA 180 and up to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia.
