What is the Duke of Edinburgh's Award?
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award comprises of 3 stages - Bronze, Silver and Gold. As a member of the ACF part of the syllabus consists of all the required units of the award. You need to pass the bronze to gain your 2 star and Silver in order to pass your 3 star. Completing the Gold Award takes more time and is not done with the rest of your cadet subjects.

What does the award comprise of?
Well there's Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, Expedition and also a Residential Project. Each section goes towards your final completion of the award. To find out more you can click the "WHAT?" tab at the official site of the DoE Award.

What happens in preparation for the Gold Hike?
You will spend a couple of weekends preparing for your hike. You will plan your route, prepare the route cards, and go on practice hikes camping out and getting used to the terrain. On the actual hike itself, you will spend 4 days away from civilisation roaming the hills around Glenshee, Kirkmicheal and Enochdu.

What happens after you complete your Gold?
Well, after you successfully complete your Gold then you can go to Holyrood Palace and be presented with your certificate by HRH Duke of Edinburgh along with the rest of your award group. You will be presented your certificate and have the option to have your photo taken afterwards (at a local hotel).
