Step 2. Now that the old motor is out, the old mounts are out and the frame mounts are notched. It's time to fabricate a set of 2.8 motor mounts. What you will need to do first is get a set of frame mounts from an S-10 or Camaro. Find a piece of steel about 3/8 inch thick. Cut out the dimensions showed on the drawling below.
.
.
Make the center point of the very first hole
(nearest the 3) an inch from the end. Then take the mounts out to
the car and line up the holes and mark where you'll need to cut the second
one. They won't be exactly perfect. Take a look at these few
other pictures to get an idea on where to drill the mount holes.
.
.
The way I found the correct place to drill the
holes. I bought myself an empty 2.8 block for 25 bucks. And
bolted the s-10 mounts on the motor, bolted the fabricated mounts to the
car and lowered the block into the car. And positioned it where i
wanted it. But first before I did that I also bought an oil pan from
a 4x4 S-10 and bolted to the dummy block. The reason for useing a
4x4 oil pan you will not need to notch out the oil pan.
.
.
And then when you get everything fabricated,
drill, then bolt the mounts to the car. It should look like this..
.
.
You will not need to move anything that has to
do with the steering. Everything will bolt right up, as if it were
meant to be.
