Project Bottom End

It seems as though the chevy v6 needs a new crank and bearings.  This page will contain the simple procedure on how to do so.

Dave L came over and performed a compression test.  ( I don't have the little gauge thinger)  The motor has good compression.  Between 170 and 155 lbs.  That means the piston rings are good and there is probably no or little oil blow by.

Here are a few pics of the block flipped upside down and the crank removed.

Here's the block flipped upside down on an engine stand.  Dave L. lent it to me for a few weeks.  I had it alot longer than that.  "when ya need it back Dave let me know"  Thanks for letting me borrow it!!

here is a main cap.  Wow is that bad or what.  The crank looks just as bad.  The main caps are the worse, the rod bearings are border line.

Now I just need to get my new crank ordered and slap it in.  Hopefully that's  real soon.  Keep checking back for the rebuild.
