Hard Beef Taco
Description: The tasty tidbit that started it all. It all starts with a crunchy corn taco shell, then is filled with saaaaavory ground beef seasoned in a way that only Taco Bell can season it, which is then topped with crisp lettuce and scrumptious cheddar cheeeese.
My Opinion: Ah, the classic. :: bows in reverence :: This is always a great thing to have tagged on to one of Taco Bell's Value Meals. ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY TACO BELL TACO, IN ALL IT'S "ZESTINESS" (as that commercial once said)!!!
Hard Chicken Taco
Description: It was a bright sunny wonderful day when Taco Bell decided to make foods with chicken in them. This lovely specimen is the exact same thing as the abovementioned Hard Beef Taco, but contains tender chunks of chicken with the PERFECT seasonings and spices.
My Opinion: Ah, chicken tacos rock. Sometimes you find a reeeeeally big chunk of chicken inside and you can take it out and pretend you're eating an entire fillet of it. Taco Bell should make a product like that, where they give you a seasoned chicken breast. I think it's a good idea. Hehe ok enough fantasizing, ONWARD!
Hard Steak Taco
Description: Same shell, lettuce and cheese but with tantalizing little strips of "Carne Asada" style steak. Very nice seasonings. Taco Bell had different seasonings in their steak a while ago, but don't worry if you didn't try the old spices, the new spices are superior anyway!
My Opinion: The Yum Factor is as strong here as it is in the other ones up above. The steak is actually quite juicy, which is always a plus.
Soft Beef Taco
Description: The almighty beef, lettuce and cheese find a new home in a soft flour tortilla.
My Opinion: It's obviously good, but sometimes it seems like they don't put enough beef in it. I tend to taste too much tortilla and not enough seeeeeeasoned beeeeeef.
Soft Chicken Taco
Description: The same as the Soft Beef Taco but with that deeeeelicious chicken that made Taco Bell even more popular.
My Opinion: Well, they put too little beef in the Soft Beef Taco but they put QUITE a bit of chicken in this! It's well worth the extra pennies for this over a soft beef taco!
Soft Steak Taco
Description: A Soft Taco with steak. Enough said!
My Opinion: They put an average amount of steak in here. No qualms.
Hard Beef Taco Supreme
Description: A Hard Beef Taco with chopped tomatoes and mouthwatering sour creeeeeeam. Mmmmmmm.
My Opinion: Very, very nice. Some of Taco Bell's Value Meals have one of these thrown in and even if the Value Meal you want doesn't have one of these in it, it's still nice to get on the side.
Hard Chicken Taco Supreme
Description: The newcoming tomatoes and sour cream get a chance to miiiiingle with the seeeeeasoned chuuuuunks of chiiiiiickeeeennnn...
My Opinion: Taaaaasty...everything combines well, like in the Hard Beef Taco Supreme.
Hard Steak Taco Supreme
Description: Sour Cream and Tomatoes, meet Steak. Steak, meet Sour Cream and Tomatoes. I'm sure you guys will become good friends! Hehe.
My Opinion: See the above opinion of the Hard Chicken Taco Supreme. :)
Soft Beef Taco Supreme
Description: Take everything in the Hard Beef Taco Supreme and switch the crunchy corn shell with a soft tortilla.
My Opinion: Very delicious, but once again the hard version of this taco seems to have a liiiiitle more beef. Still, if you like the soft taco texture and you like Taco Bell's awesome beef, this will please.
Soft Chicken Taco Supreme
Description: A Soft Taco Supreme filled with those tender, expertly seasoned chunks of chicken!
My Opinion: Like the Soft Chicken Taco, they give you more chicken here than in a Hard Taco Supreme. A veeeeery delicious side dish!
Soft Steak Taco Supreme
Description: It's soft. It's supreme. It's got steak. Enough said.
My Opinion: Like the hard version of this taco, everything blends together nicely, especially the spices of the steak and the coolness of the sour cream.
Beef Double Decker Taco
Description: Take a Hard Beef Taco, fill a flour tortilla with Taco Bell's delicious, flavorful beans, put the Hard Beef Taco IN the tortilla and you have the Double Decker Taco!
My Opinion: Taco Bell's idea was to make a taco that let someone enjoy the texture of a hard taco and a soft taco together. They succeeded in doing this, plus the beans compliment the flavor of everything else very well! This taco is also quite filling, as are it's other versions!
Kelly's Opinion: The double deckers are good. Whoever thought to put soft and hard together with beans in the middle is a genius.
Chicken Double Decker Taco
Description: Hard Chicken Taco + flour tortilla filled with beans = MMMMMMMM.
My Opinion: Equally as delicious as the beef version. Also equally as filling.
Steak Double Decker Taco
Description: Hey beans! I'm steak. Let's tango...
My Opinion: People who especially love steak will like this one. The beans acts like a sauce for the steak; they go together quite well.
Beef Double Decker Taco Supreme
Description: The Double Decker Taco taken a step even further by adding the deeeelicious chunks of tomatoes and the sour cream.
My Opinion: Oh, what a difference some tomatoes and sour cream make! This filling, scrumptious taco is so good that it gets my Crazy Gordita SEAL OF APPROVAL, as do all the other Double Decker Taco Supremes!
Chicken Double Decker Taco Supreme
Description: A Hard Chicken Taco Supreme coupled with the bean filled tortilla.
My Opinion: The beans only make the already delicious flavors the Hard Chicken Taco Supreme has even more delicious! SEAL OF APPROVAL!
Steak Double Decker Taco Supreme
Description: Get on the steak, beans, tomatoes and sour cream conga line!
My Opinion: Like before, the beans and the steak go suprisingly well together. The addition of tomatoes and sour cream makes this item all the better! SEAL OF APPROVAL!
Baja Chicken Soft Taco
Description: A smaller version of a Baja Chicken Gordita. It contains everything that a normal Soft Chicken Taco does, but also has two very special, very tasty additions. One of those things is Taco Bell's Fiesta Salsa, which is a blend of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and special spiiiiices. Next is Taco Bell's zeeeeesty Pepperjack sauce, which is now more commonly called Baja sauce. Why is a chicken item coming first before the beef item this time? That's because this is the original version of this taco. You can get beef or steak instead, plus change the shell from soft to hard, but doing this is considered a special custom order.
My Opinion: If you're a big eater like me, you'll want to opt for the bigger version of this item, the Baja Chicken Gordita. Still, if your stomach isn't that big and you still want to taste the awesome flavor of a Taco Bell Baja item, this will definitely please your palette. The Fiesta Salsa goes particularly well with the chicken, and the Pepperjack Sauce just ties everything together.
Baja Beef Soft Taco
Description: The taste of beef, Pepperjack Sauce and Fiesta Salsa will definitely start a fiesta in your mouth!
My Opinion: Ahh...one of the best tastes that Taco Bell Produces is how their seasoned beeeeef and Pepperjack Sauuuuuce taste together. It's sensational! Like above, however, go for the Baja Beef Gordita instead if you want to get full quicker; you get more of everything. :P
Baja Steak Soft Taco
Description: Now the Carne Asada Steak spices get a chance to mingle with the sauce and salsa that combine to form the Baja flavor...
My Opinion: An interesting combination. The steak, sauce and salsa flavors create a very hot, spicy taste. Is it good? Depends on how tolerant you are of hot spices. I don't think it's that hot (then again, I have a high hot spice tolerance). Well anyway, I like it. Nonetheless, for people who plain want more food, get the Baja Steak Gordita.
Baja Beef Hard Taco
A Hard Beef Taco with those two phenominal toppings, the sauce and salsa.
My Opinion: The only way to taste what the Baja flavor is like when coupled with something crunchy is to ask for a modified taco like this. It's quite nice, actually. As stated above, the beef and Pepperjack Sauce go together better than Sonny and Cher.
Baja Chicken Hard Taco
Description: A Baja Chicken Soft Taco with a hard corn shell. Enough said.
My Opinion: If you like the soft version of this taco, chances are you'll like this one. Same flavor basically, except it goes CRUNCH!! :D
Baja Steak Hard Taco
Description: Yet again the Baja toppings and Taco Bell steak get a change to mingle, but in a different mosh pit this time.
My Opinion: Like above, this one is a little hotter than the average taco. Try it and see if it's too hot for you. And of course, the crunch is nice. :)
Beef Black Jack Taco
Description: It's a black taco shell with beef, pepperjack sauce, lettuce and the three cheese blend.
My Opinion: Yep...the shell doesn't taste different...it's...just...black. It's not really a new dish at all. Oh well, at least it's another reason to have beef with Baja Sauce together.
Chicken Black Jack Taco
Description: Blackened Chicken it is not.
My Opinion: Oh look, a modified Baja Taco with a different color. Cool?
Steak Black Jack Taco
Description: No, it's not burnt.
My Opinion: Oh look at that taco shell I want it painted blaaaaack...
"Grilled" Steak Soft Taco
Description: Contrary to what the title of this item insinuates, the steak in this taco is not different than the steak in other Taco Bell items. This is basically a Soft Steak Taco Supreme, but instead of sour cream, they add a special lime sauce. This is the original, advertised version of this taco, which I have custom ordered with different meats and shells so you can know how they all taste.
My Opinion: The steak and lime sauce create an interesting flavor together. It's worth trying out at least once.
"Grilled" Beef Soft Taco
Description: Move over, sour cream, time for the lime sauce to strut it's stuff!
Once again, an interesting flavor. You would never think that lime would actually taste good with beef.
"Grilled" Chicken Soft Taco
Description: A Soft Chicken Taco Supreme with lime sauce instead of sour cream. Nuff said.
My Opinion: Surprisingly, the lime sauce goes better with the chicken than it does with the steak (how ironic, eh?). Also an interesting taste experience.
"Grilled" Beef Hard Taco
Description: This nonstandard taco combines the unique lime sauce with the crunchiness of a Hard Beef Taco Supreme (minus the sour cream, of course).
My Opinion: Like the Baja Taco, you can't taste the lime sauce in a crunchy Taco Bell item unless you specifically ask them to make something like this. The flavor of the combined beef and lime sauce goes nicely with the crunchy corn shell.
"Grilled" Chicken Hard Taco
Description: The Taco Bell Chicken and lime sauce are movin' on up...to the east side...in that yummy crunchy corn taco shell, in the skyyyyyyyyy...hehe, I'm so friggin silly.
My Opinion: Like stated above, Taco Bell's Chicken, when combined with the lime sauce created to go with the steak, seems to taste better than if it's combined with the steak. The crunchy shell, obviously, makes it even better. :P
"Grilled" Steak Hard Taco
Description: Now, the lime sauce that was created for the steak gets to combine with it in a corn shell.
My Opinion: If you like the soft version of this taco then you'll like this. Crunchiness is always good. :)
Kid's Taco
Description: This is a lot like a normal taco, but there is no lettuce and there are two types of cheeses inside: Monterey Jack is added to the cheddar that's already there.
Sadly, this item was discontinued before I had a chance to try it! :( If you tried it before it was discontinued, send your opinion on it to me and I will give you due credit.
BLT Taco
Description: Like the name suggests, this taco has bacon, lettuce and tomato, along with club sauce and cheddar cheese.
Sadly, this item was discontinued before I had a chance to try it, but here's someone that has!
James's Opinion: It was pretty decent. From what I remember the smoky bacon added a nice rustic fragrance to it. If you never tried one, you didn't miss too much, just think of a BLT w/mayo sandwich with shredded Monterey and Chedder cheese.
Double Grande Taco
Description: A new item on the Big Bell Value menu, it is like a soft taco variant of the double decker taco. It consists of a soft taco tortilla smothered in nacho cheese which is then wrapped around a normal soft taco that has double the meat as well as lettuce and cheese.
My Opinion: This rocks. A great taco to get if you want to savor Taco Bell's succulent beef. There isn't much else in this besides the beef, so you can just enjoy the beef alone. I like this a lot, but there's one thing that keeps it from being flawless...the nacho cheese inbetween the tortillas. Don't get me wrong, I love how Taco Bell's nacho cheese goes with their beef, but it makes it a little hard to enjoy the beef by itself. IMO I think they should have just put normal shredded cheddar cheese inbetween. Still, it's a great taco, no matter which meat you choose to fill it with!
Jon's Opinion: Very good, and very filling. There is a lot of nacho cheese, so I wouldn't recommend ordering it if you don't like Taco Bell's nacho cheese. The cheese goes well with the taste of the taco meat, and it really fills you up since there's double the amount.
Taco Lite
Description: The Taco Lite was a double long white corn tortilla with double the meat, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and cheddar cheese. The cheese and sour cream were both special, low fat versions, which were at one time available in all Taco Bell food items for a slightly higher price.
Never tried it, but here's someone that did!
Jeffrey's Opinion: I used to work at a Taco Bell and these were my favorite. The flour shell did not impart as strong a flavor as the corn shell so you could taste the other ingredients better. The only drawback was that the flour shells were more fragile and because of their larger size it was nearly impossible to eat one without it disintegrating. I believe that is why the sour cream was essential.
Taco Bellgrande
Description: A discontinued item, from what I've been told this was basically a gigantic Taco Supreme with the addition of black olives.
Haven't tried it, buuuuuuut...
Meghan's Opinion: I am still sad that they don't have any black olives anymore! In any case, I STILL miss that Taco Bellgrande! It was masterful.
Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco
Description: Lettuce, cheddar, Fiesta Salsa, chicken and the new avocado ranch sauce. This is the only advertised version.
My Opinion: Quite nice. The main attraction is how well the new sauce mixes with the chicken; it produces a nice flavor with the chicken's already delicious spices. I can't really taste much of the avodaco in the new sauce; it's more like a green ranch sauce. The Fiesta Salsa also goes very well with the sauce. This is a good taco to get if you like things tangy.
Ranchero Beef Soft Taco
Description: Time for a meat pinch hitter! Um...a pinch meater? o_O Beef + Ranch = Good?
My Opinion: Yep! The sauce goes good with the beef, but not as well as the chicken.
Ranchero Steak Soft Taco
Description: You know the drill; nobody customizes like Crazy Gordita!
The sauce is good with the steak (better than the beef actually) but not as much as the chicken.
Ranchero Beef Hard Taco
Description: Time for some crunchy ranchy!
My Opinion: The hard shell texture is nice with the ranch sauce. This is a good taco.
Ranchero Chicken Hard Taco
Description: They might as well just advertise a crunchy version...
My Opinion: ...because it's just as good as the soft. Great chicken/sauce fusion (and salsa/sauce fusion), crunchy shell goes great with it.
Ranchero Steak Hard Taco
Description: Hard shell, steak, sauce, fixins. Nuff said.
My Opinion: You guessed it; crunch nice with shell, sauce good with steak better than beef but not as good as chicken.
Spicy Chicken Soft Taco
Description: A simple, hot taco, it's just the same shredded chicken/spicy sauce blend in the Spicy Chicken Burrito, lettuce and that tasty, flavorful Fiesta Salsa. Spicy Chicken is discontinued (Thanks for the info Caitlyn!).
My Opinion: A nice taco. The Fiesta Salsa helps cool down the chicken a little, but if you don't like hot hot things it probably isn't for you.
Spicy Chicken Hard Taco
Description: Same as abuhv, but with a hard shell. Spicy Chicken is discontinued (Thanks for the info Caitlyn!).
My Opinion: I actually like this a lot more than the soft! The crunchy corn taco tastes really nice with the chicken. And, like so many times before, an UNOFFICIAL food item tastes better than the official, heh :).
Soft Beef Big Taste Taco
Description: Take a normal Soft Beef Taco and add crunchy Red Strips plus the creamy Jalapeno Sauce.
My Opinion: This taco is proof that Taco Bell has NOT run out of creativity!! I like it a lot!! This taco is a GREAT chance to see what the Jalapeno Sauce can do when there isn't a lot of other stuff around. The beef and Jalapeno sauce taste very good together. If you are sensitive to hot, spicy food, you might want to eat it with caution, but in my opinion it's worth it even if you ARE sensitive (just get side of sour cream or something...this taco is significantly delicious)!! As if the great flavor of this taco wasn't enough, we have a rarity inside this taco...the Red Strips are not only allowed to stay crunchy, but they truly add another dimension to this dish with the extra texture!! The crunch is a great addition; it's like I have a spicy nacho chip salad wrapped up in this tortilla! :: speaks like a politician :: I am Crazy Gordita, and I APPROVE this taco...with a SEAL.
Soft Chicken Big Taste Taco
Description: How big is the taste with chicken inside?
My Opinion: Not as big, actually. It's good, but the harmony of meat and sauce isn't as strong here as it is in the beef version.
Soft Steak Big Taste Taco
Description: The whole "Winners Eat Steak!" campaign never really wowed me...
My Opinion: This taco didn't wow me, either. It's the least good out of the three. The steak and sauce almost confict each other. It doesn't taste bad, but it's mediocre at best.
Hard Beef Big Taste Taco
Description: Now, the crunchy red strips are inside a crunchy yellow shell.
My Opinion: Still just as delicious as the beef and I like the crunchy much better. The only drawback is that you can't tell if you're eating the red strips because they taste the same as the shell, but it still gets a SEAL OF APPROVAL!!
Hard Chicken Big Taste Taco
Description: Hard shell, chicken. ...look give me a break I'm really tired from exercising, my funny juices aren't flowing very well at the moment. YES, CRAZY GORDITA WORKS OUT!! LOL. Did you actually think I would gorge myself on all this stuff without burning it off somehow? :P
My Opinion: Still not as good as with the beef.
Hard Steak Big Taste Taco
Description: Steak.
My Opinion: Mediocre. ...hey, you try playing as much DDR and ITG as me and see how funny you are when you're all exhausted. :)
Beef Volcano Taco
Description: A red shelled hard taco with all the normal ingredients except for the new Lava Sauce.
My Opinion: The fact that the shell is just a different color and not seasoned in any way is kind of a letdown. They could have done something special with that. Oh well. So, what does the only real new ingredient, the Lava Sauce, taste like? It's basically a cross between the creamy jalapeno sauce and the nacho cheese sauce. There isn't that much Lava Sauce in the taco, which is good for people with low tolerance, since it seems to become exponentially hotter when there is more of it, at least in my experience. It's pretty good and it compliments the beef well, but it's certainly not good enough to rank up with the elite sauces that Taco Bell has already made.
Eric's Opinion: The red shell doesn't taste any different than the normal ones- it's only there for visual reasons- but I really enjoyed the lava sauce. It has a lot of heat to it, and it adds some substance to one of Taco Bell's plainer menu items. The sauce is creamy and hot- I think it packs about the same amount of heat as a packet of Fire sauce. My only complaint is that it doesn't taste quite like melted cheese; it tastes like a cheese-based sauce that's been heated up. I know that's a nitpick, but I do love me some nacho cheese. For some reason, I was expecting the lava sauce to be nacho cheese on steroids. That's sort of what it is, but it doesn't have the same consistency. Still, it's tasty, and at 89 cents, it's one of the most interesting fast food values out there. I hope it'll become a permanent menu item.
Chicken Volcano Taco
Description: Lava? HA! I swim in your so called "magma." Come on in, chickens, you won't get burned! Well, as long as they don't add more.
My Opinion: Also good, but the beef has better harmony with this new sauce.
Steak Volcano Taco
Description: The faux fire is now slathered over chunky bovine.
My Opinion: This is the best Volcano Taco. Sauces with heat have always seemed to blend better overall with Taco Bell's steak than the other two meats and this is no exception. All three are good, though.
