The flight was diverted to Qatar because of a sandstorm. We had to spend the night there
Late the next day April 19, we arrived at Kuwait International Aiport

A Marine standing watch at the entrance to one of the compounds we stayed in.

Closeup of a Cobra patrolling the city
On my first patrol we went through a Fedayeen training compound.
The Fedayeen had long since run away and left behind weapons, ammo, and uniform items. I brought back a helmet for a souvenir.
My first day in Al Kut I had to go to this agricultural center where weapons were being confiscated. I had to talk to local leaders to help disperse an upset crowd that had gathered there. They were upset because we had detained a couple guys that were guarding the compound. They weren't guarding the weapons, just preventing people from looting the remaining farm supplies.
Mortar fuses
Anti-aircraft rounds
During my 2nd foot patrol I found these anti-tank mines in a fighting hole. Made in France
This blown up T72 tank was located in the same orchard as the mines I found.
The orchard is located between two main roads. There are tank positions and fighting holes all over. This was to be a key ambush site. It never happened
Another blown up tank
