About Me

I've been riding motorcycles on the street since March 1995 and offroad since the spring of 1994. I completed the MSF beginners course in December of '94,the Experienced Riders Course in May of '98 and the Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Club Race School in April of '97. I've done about 8 Hawaii Road Racing Association trackdays with my GS,SV, and VF500, several at Summit Point, WV on my sister's fiance's YZF600R and another there in the rain with the SV and VF500, and later on as a control rider for several trackdays put on by local motorcycle dealerships. I have a '95 Honda VFR750F. I bought it used with 25,425 miles in October of '98 in Salinas,CA. It now has over 150,000 miles. I used to have a '91 Suzuki GS500E with a number of mods. I bought it used with 3,000 miles in May '96. I ended up giving it away in a thousand pieces after I put about 38,000 miles on the first engine and then about 5,000 miles on the 'new' engine. I also have an '85 Honda VF500F Interceptor and a 2001 Suzuki SV650S. My SV has over 30,000 miles, the last 10,000+ have been on the track. In 2004 I bought a bareley used 2004 Suzuki DR650SE that has some supermotard modifications. In late 2005 I bought a 2003 SV1000 that I raced a few times and have since parted-out a lot of it.

My first bike, bought September '94 and no longer have was an '83 Yamaha DT-80K. It was a 72cc 2-stroke dual purpose. I put about 8,700 street miles on it in 9 months!!!No joke. With a top speed of 45-50mph, that's a lot of riding time. In November 2006 I found on eBay a Yamaha DT-80K exactly like the one I used to have. I drove to Rhode Island and back in one day in order to get it.

In November 2007 I bought a 2007 Honda CBR600RR with just 23 miles for $7200. It is solely for racing.
I've done a lot of off road riding and riding of friends' bikes. Total riding is over 250,000 miles and counting.

Detailed 1997 Race Results

1stRace: GT1 Amateur 750cc+ (meant to enter GT3) Had fun outbraking and passing the slower 750 riders. Wasn't fun getting smoked on the straight by the slower 750 riders. Didn't finish last either. My laptimes started at 1:41.18 and were down to 1:38.62 on lap 8 when sister stopped timing me.

2nd Race: Lightweight Sportsman AM/EX Combined Finished 10th of 19 overall and 3rd place amateur. Laptimes started at 1:41:.75, I then varied between :39s and :40s with a best of 1:39.28 on lap 5.

3rd Race: Lightweight Sportbike Finished 10th of 34. After a red flag, I begin again with 1:39.94, dropped into :38s for two laps, then :37s for two more laps and finished the race doing :36s with best of 1:36.75. I'm progressively getting faster with each race.

4th Race: Supertwins Finished 6th. I started with a 1:39.16 and then did :36s and :37s with a best of 1:36.41

5th Race: Lightweight Superbike Finished 11th of 28. I started with a 1:37.91, I did the next 4 laps at :37s, into the :36s and then a best of 1:35.66.

6th Race: GT3 AM/EX Combined Finished 17th of 51 overall and 8th place amateur. Much easier than racing in the GT1.My laptimes started at 1:36.57 and I worked down to my best recorded lap time yet of 1:34.6 on lap 15 of 16.
IMAGE 7th Race: Sportsman AM/EX Combined Finished 8th of 21 overall and FIRST PLACE amateur.I started with a 1:34.75, then 1:36.03, and then I dropped into :35s for the rest of the race with the best of those being 1:35.06.

8th, 9th, and 10th Races: Never happened. 2nd lap of practice that morning the idiot behind me locks up the front end on his FZR going into turn 1 because the track is still a little damp because of dew. So he goes down and his bike keeps going at about 80mph I'm guessing. I'm just starting to turn into turn 1 at 45-50mph and WHAAM!! I go straight off the back of my bike and land on my back and slide feet first to the edge of the track. Result: 1 destroyed rear wheel (only thing that kept me from racing that day) and a snapped and bent steering damper. I got lucky, just before practice I removed the fairing lowers to see if it improves my top speed.
